Super User iceintheveins Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 I love the KVD stuff and use about 2 bottles per season. Question is, does it work on fluorocarbon since fluoro doesn't absorb moisture like monofilament does? I have used it on fluoro, but I use fluoro only for a couple applications so it's hard to say what type of effect it has had. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 Yes it works on FC & I love the stuff. My only concern is does it make the line stretch more? Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 It doesnt absorb, it just puts a coating to allow the line to be more slick. 1 Quote
Jig Meister Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I love this stuff. Use it with all my lines. Makes all my FC so workable and great. I usually use Viscous FC in 15/17# and without KVD it just doesn't have the same effect. Not sure what it is, but my gut tells me that it is something akin to Armor All, same color, and effect. I also use the stuff on my rod, I will clean the whole rod with it once every 2 weeks or so, making sure to put a little extra on the eyes to keep things running as smooth as they can. So far no complaints at all. 1 Quote
unionman Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I spary that stuff everywhere. Reel, rods, lures... The water just beads up and falls off. Its cut my cleanings way down. Nothing sticks to my reel anymore. A quick wipe and some oil and Im good to go. No more cleaning for a half an hour with q-tips. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 It was initially developed to make fluoro behave more like traditional nylon mono. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 Not only does it make casting fluoro easy, it also makes fluoro last longer. I did a test with 20lb test. I treated the line when I put it on the reel and used it for 80+ days during the first year. Then I treated it again and used it for over 100 days the following year. In the beginning of the third year it started to cloud up feel bad so I changed it out. Quote
mod479 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I use Sunline Sniper 5# on a spinning reel and I can say it makes it much more manageable and has almost eliminated any issues with line twist. It handles as well as normal mono or a copoly now that it's had a few treatments... I cant say that when it comes outta the package brand new. (Its like a super thin steel piano wire) Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 USE IT! It will help your line perform better. Quote
j.bruno Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Firm believer in KVD Line and Lure myself. I put it it on all my line. After every outing i just douse the spool with it. Great stuff. A bottle lasts a long time too. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 19, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 19, 2012 Just checking. It's awesome stuff for sure. Quote
