Brian B Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Just curious to see if anyone has used any of the Gulp Alive products. They look interesting and I was just wondering what everyone tought. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 i like em. good, natural action, falls apart at hook set and they taste real to the bass. i let one run off almost 20 yards before settin the hook just to see how long she'd hold on, she never let go either. nasty guthook though which i managed to free her from thankfully. for goodness sake though, don't let the bag sit open while you fish, zip em up airtight when not in use Quote
Buckeye1955 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I use the Gulp shad minnows on a jig head and they work great. I bought them in the storage container full of fluid. Just make sure you don't spill any of it in your boat! That stuff really stinks! I was a little concerned when over a peroiod of time it turned yellowish brown from being initially clear. But I've seen containers in the stores doing the same thing. Doesn't seem to make any difference to the fish. Quote
mahagowitz Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 and I've heard after a few casts dip it back in the jar for a few seconds to "recharge" the flavor Quote
pennyankees Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 i use these pretty often. i have great luck with them. The scent is so strong though haha. but they do produce. i fish them on jig heads and swim them over weed beds and off points Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Has anyone used the garlic Gulp Alive spray? I was wondering how garlicy it smells? Quote
Lipped M Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Been using some of their 6" nightcrawlers, weightless Texas rigged and dropshoting, also some 3/8ths weighted carolina rigs, colors were natural, black and watermelon/red glitter.Had good success catching large and smallmouths with these. We did switch them out frequently to keep from drying out and maintain stronger scent. Super User CWB Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 Has anyone used the garlic Gulp Alive spray? I was wondering how garlicy it smells? I bought 2 bottles at BPS last year and have to say I was disappointed. Not much smell and washed off the bait pretty quick. Might work better with gulp products. I like the Chompers Garlic scent. Although it's not garlic, Megastrike is pretty tough to beat. Quote
Big Bass Chaser Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Has anyone used the garlic Gulp Alive spray? I was wondering how garlicy it smells? Although it's a spray you're better off spraying into the package of soft baits rather than once it's on the line. I think it only lasts a few casts max. Quote

Although it's a spray you're better off spraying into the package of soft baits rather than once it's on the line. I think it only lasts a few casts max. That's exactly how I'm using mine up. Spraying it into the bait bags and closing them to soak it up. If you really want Garlic that lasts, try some JJ's Magic. Just don't spill it. Powerful stuff to say the least. Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 gulp needs to make a paste for plastics similar to the megastrike, but in their own flavor.megastrike really sticks well and stays for multiple casts. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 I do use Gulp Minnow and have had success with them on a jighead and with a dropshot. The down side to them is that they will "Dry up" on the hook while moving from spot to spot or if you switch to a different rod/rig. But there is no doubt the bass where I fish will eat them quite readily. A-Jay Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted January 26, 2010 Super User Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks guys. 8-) Quote
