I'm going on a fishing trip next weekend and I just need something to get me through. The only problem is I only have About 50 bucks. I'm looking for something I couuld throw light texas rigs and stuff. It would be a spinning rod and reel. I want something decent so I can continue using it. I'll also be catching smallies on it. I was looking at the quantum optix. Anybody use it. And I need a decent rod. Any suggestions? Thanks

Also, if you know a decent combo for that price let me know.

If I only had $50 I would go to gander mountain and look at their house brand combos. My dad used them for years before he upgrade and they've lasted, and are really nice for the price you pay.

Bass Pro has several house brand combos in that range. I don't use then to often to give a fair assement on types etc as I use an ugly stick combo from walmart ive had for 10 years. Its like 30 bucks and seems to work well. I have used 8 pound line up to 12 pound without any problems.

My advice is buy cheap now and save up for a decent combo later
