Super User MCS Posted July 16, 2012 Super User Posted July 16, 2012 My wife was reminding this time last year we were at Gander Mountain. I was picking out fishing line and getting a couple reels strung and she was in the car in labor ( the pain started on the way she insisted I go in while she stayed and had no urgency) It wasn't until the phone call but by then I was next in line. so wouldn't you complete your purchase?.....ah the memories that they never forget. Just like every time we see ESPNs Mike&Mike that recalls the memory of our first born because I am reminded that is what we watched in the delivery room while see lay there in pain. Sorry to be so sentimental just thought I would share. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 16, 2012 Super User Posted July 16, 2012 cool story man, my wife with both our boys was out fishing the day before she had them both were scheduled c sections so we knew they were coming there were no surprises we knew both were gonna be giants lol. Its funny she was a better fisherman or fisherwomen when she was pregnant I always told her she got it from me by injection hehe. I got a few pictures on her camera of her fishing 2 weeks past due with our first some battling giant carp and a few with her comparing a prespawn smallie (4.5lbs) belly to hers lol. Just think you can tell that story to your daughter that you were buying fishing line when her mother went into labor with her lol. Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 16, 2012 Super User Posted July 16, 2012 Keeping little memories in mind like that, is what makes the difference between a Daddy/Husband/Friend and a sperm doner 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 16, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 16, 2012 @ Clayton : lol @ "by injection"...if she is not as good now maybe it was the babies that were sharing their fishing mojo with her. That is promising for them. @ rockchalk : LOL So true.... she reminds me with a smile, half joking. I believe they will be passed down. Dickish as they might sound now at the time no harm was intended when it happened and that is the funny part it just worked out. I mean I got a remote and a choice between Regis philbin and Mike&Mike what was I supposed to do. Quote

My youngest hasn't gone fishing yet he just started walking last week and he will be 1 in 2 weeks so hes still got another year. Now my oldest Noah who just turned 3 in may hes a natural he will cast, reel in set hooks you name it I don't let him bait hooks though I don't feel like explaining to the wife why he has a hook in his finger lol. He out fished me and the wife last summer with a cane pole id throw a gulp spike on the hook for him hed start "casting" which at that time he just turned 2 consisted of smacking the water with the pole and he was getting a bluegill like every 30 seconds soon as id pick up his sponge bob pole to use my self hed have a fish. Now hes more refined as a fisherman and can cast his sponge bob pole on his own and reel it in he just doesn't have the patience to let it sit. Last time the wife went fishing she got bit like crazy but couldn't set the hook to save her life she was using a Frog and got scared every time one would strike and forgot to set the hook. When she was prego it was all about the grub and pre spawn smallmouth in the river with our first son with our youngest she was all about crappie fishing well Noah and I caught blue gill. Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 16, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 16, 2012 Yeah my 3 year can't let it sit either. Mine has a cars pole, it came with a rubber tire to practice casting. I gave it to him the first time in the house I didn't think the boy would put it all together that was scary the first time that rubber slugg went flying by, but I got used to it, one eye on the tv one eye on the kid casting, he does it outside now. Funny how quick they pick things up, how much they can get from just watching us. Good stories Clayton Quote
