I am getting the powell diesel 7'2" Med Hvy rod. I think I'm going to get a good 7:1:1 reel. If I put 17lb fluoro on it would this setup be good for swim jigs, spinnerbaits, squarebills, lipless crankbaits, chatterbaits, and T-Rigs. Also, would I be able to use football jigs for this setup. Thanks.

Personally, I like mono for spinnerbaits and shallow crankbaits. I use fluoro for deeper cranks, but 17lb is too heavy. I think that is a perfect set-up for football jigs and for heavier Texas rigged worms though. I can't really comment on swim jigs and chatterbaits because I don't use them.

I don't know what the lure rating on that rod happen to be but it would more than likely be a good all purpose rod with the exception of square bill cranks, and liplees cranks. I find medium heavy with a fast action is too much for baits with treble hooks, find a good medium power with a fast action for the square bills and lipless baits unless or a rod with a moderate to moderate fast action on the medium heavy side.
