I had to go to the hospital a couple of nights ago. I have a severe colon infection. The 2 antibiotics they gave me are kicking my bass. One of them says not to stay in the sun too long and not to have a lot of caffeine (which means I'm suppose to lower my coffee intake). The other one says it causes dizziness, joint pains, cramping, lower abdominal pain (which is why I went to the hospital in the first place), moodiness (I was wondering why I've been snapping my wife's head off), and nerves issues. Of course the pain med they gave me causes drowsiness. Those are only a few of the symptoms listed and I unfortunately have been experiencing all that I just listed.

No coffee, even more limited mobility than usual, even more drowsiness than what I already am, and increased lower abdominal pain than what I was already dealing with. All translate to little or no fishing for the next 7-10 days. I'm not used to that. At the most I might go a day without fishing, but rarely. I usually get at least a couple of hours in.

At 7:30 this morning I decided to be stubborn and went fishing. I walked the equivalent of 2 blocks to a place that has finally started producing bass for me and within 30 minutes I felt like I had walked to my favorite point (45 minute walk) and fished it for 5 hours. The 5-10 minute walk back was even worse. I feel sorry for my wife and son. I'm going to go nuts not being able to fish. Plus, I'm going to fall behind on my numbers.

I do have a PS2 Mark Davis Pro Challenge game and I do enjoy it, but it's not the same. Please do me a favor and let me see 10-15 of you guys/gals post pics of 10lb or better bass you catch in the next 7-10 days.

I feel ya going stir crazy. this is the longest iv ever gone with out fishing and I still get out every now and then to the pier for queen fish but its not the same as bass fishing. Over the past week iv watched all 58 of bassresource youtube videos some more then once so I could jot notes down. I'm constantly on this site or TW looking dreaming lol. Im gonna go nuts not able to catch a bass for over a year. I fish every day when im home either on my lunch breaks or on my way home after work and before work in the spring some times all 3 lol. How long are you gonna be on your meds for hopefully its not to long so you can get back on the water.

7-10 days, but according to the papers the pharmacist gave me the effects could last a little longer than that. I say 7-10 days because one I take for 7 days and the other I take for 10 days. Shoot, if it weren't for my wife, I'd probably never go to the hospital. I can't stand them. I also have a high tolerance for pain, so for me to go to the hospital then it's some serious pain. There were a couple of days this week that I was just about doubled over.

yeah im with you I don't go to the hospital ever iv needed stitches many a times I just wrapped it in duct tape or electrical tape and kept on trucking I broke my ribs a few years back took me almost a week to admit I should go to the hospital and get it checked out I didn't know they were broken I just knew it hurt to laugh and raise my hands up or pretty much anything then I got some xrays and hey guess what lol. 7-10 days aint nothing im sure you will get used to the side effects and get out fishing sooner then that.

Not sure about getting used to the side effects, but I do have a bet with myself on how long before my stubborness and fishing addiction gets the best of me.

Yea, but unlike Ike, don't let your moodiness get the best of you and start breaking your rods when the fish you want don't bite.

I feel your agony. I just got over the same kind of infection. Mine lasted a month and I lost 25lbs. Friday I get to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Infections gone but the symptoms remained. Good luck.

Be careful. A friend of mine had the same thing you seem to have. As it turned out his optic nerve had become crossed with his rectal nerve and he had a real crappy outlook on life for years.

He recovered and is about the happiest single guy I know.

My wife has ulcerative colitis which basically ulcers in your colon. She got to where she couldn't eat or keep anything in her system and got deathly skinny. She still has flare ups every now and then, but not that bad. I've already got to deal with family polycystic kidney disease, so I don't even want to think about another possible chronic disease.

I broke down and went fishing for 30 minutes this afternoon. It's nice living within 50-100 feet of the lake. The 30 minutes did me in, but I did catch 2 bass, so I'm happy.

Glad you got some fishing in. Wishing you a quick recovery. You will be in my thoughts, unfortunately I won't be able to help you with pics of bass as work has me covered up this week.

Hope you feel better soon and try not to rush it. The fish will still be there waiting for you.

Thanks guys. Until I get better I might try to fish a few minutes at a time. But, I'm going to take this opportunity and recycle some of my torn up soft plastics. I'm going to attempt to design my own. Worse case scenario, they won't catch anything. Best case, they will and I'll have a way to save money. I just wish I could afford the plastisol. From what I gather it only takes one ounce to make 6 worms so the plastisol would stretch pretty far, but it's expensive when you first start.
