Super User deep Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 I haven't used fluoro in ages, so bear with me if this is a stupid question. When fishing a bottom bumping bait on slack line/ line with a bow (due to wind, current, etc), do you think you can feel more bites using fluoro over mono or copoly? I know technically the answer should be yes, but what are your experiences? Thanks, Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 The answer is no, the only way anyone can feel bites on a slack line is if you have a finger on the line and the line moves or the line moves enough that it causes the rod to pick it up but other than that it doesn't matter what line as you usually see a strike on slack line way before you feel it. Super User 00 mod Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 Yes. I have switched all bottom baits to flouro. Everything else gets yo-zuri hybrid. Jeff BTW> in response to smalljaw, I ALWAYS have a finger on the line with bottom baits. That is how my dad taught me years ago Quote
Super User deep Posted July 14, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 14, 2012 Yes, I always place a finger on the line too. Fluoro sinks though. I don't know how I can see the line jump? (I'm a line-watcher when I fish braid) Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 you watch for it to jump where it enters the water. The fact that it does sink it the reason you can see it jump better as well as feel it better. Much less slack in the line. I switched from braid earlier this year, maybe 4 months ago, and havent looked back. I only have 1 reel with braid on it, and haven't fished it since then. Might be taking that braid off as well. No frog fishing or A-rigs in a while, so no need. Jeff Quote
