basscrusher Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hey VA crew- This one's just for fun...I'm not trying to encroach on anyone's secret honey hole. If you'd prefer to keep a spot secret, that's totally cool, just don't reply. I get it. But if you don't mind sharing, let's see how wide an array of answers we get! I'll kick it off. PB VA largemouth: Burke Lake (tad under 7 lbs) - 6" Zoom Dead Ringer (pumpkin/chart,) PB VA smallmouth: Upper Potomac (3.5 lbs) - 4" Senko (black/blue flake) Let's see your stuff! Quote
JSPOONE Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 personal best came out of lake braddock around 4 pounds on a white and red with a red hook on a spinner bait Quote
Broke bass fisherman Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 No Va Largemouth yet but personal Va best SM 2#. Caught on weightless pumpkin green senko. Caught on a small farm pond outside of Christiansburg. Edit: as basscrusher pointed out this is my best LMB Best SMB was around 2# caught on rebel pop-r frog (swamp frog color) below Little river dam. Quote
Broke bass fisherman Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 That's a largemouth in your pic! You know I thought so when I caught it but immediately disregarded it because of the size of the pond, tiny tiny pond. Thanks for the info, always been bad at telling the difference between LMB & SMB. Quote
mudkart Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Lake Royal, 7-2 LMB, baby brush hog; Shenandoah River (near Rileyville), 2-0 SMB, Fat Ika. Quote

JSPOONE Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 yeh i didnt see anything about ur catch.. ill have to keep fishing there till i catch one that big.. hopefully its still around Quote
shimmy Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Here is a smallmouth, was tinkering between 4.0 and 3.15 but hanging on 4 so i called it! The other bass here was basically the same thing but sticking around the 4.14 mark so i couldn't call it. So, PB smallmouth for VA here was caught at the B-Dam (i know a few people here knew where i caught it before i even mentioned it and wouldn't be surprised if they caught much bigger here). There are some big ones in here but haven't hooked into one yet. Still learning the lake. Haven't gone in a few months though. Quote
crossthemeverytime Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 3-12 LMB out of Lake Royal on a Strike King Bitsy Bug jig w/a Netbait Paca Chunk trailer. Sightfishing during spawn. I may or may not have caught a 4-0 LMB in 2011 at Lake Royal, but i didn't have a scale on me. Quote

Largest LMB is out of Lake Anna, 8.89 lbs , caught on a Green pumkin/Chart Strike King jig with a Rage Tail craw in bama color, pitched it to a point that has an old creek bed just out from it and just let it fall off the bank onto a shelf. Largest SMB, well, thats a zero, I have never caught one. Quote

The Briery bass are more photogenic since they tend to be longer than similar bass of the same weight catagory. Quote

Bigbarge50 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I am king of the 3lbers. Third summer fishing in NOVA and while I rarely get skunked anymore (knock wood) and can do ok with numbers, I cannot crack 4lbs. Far from complaining though, 3lb-ers are great fish to me.... will hapiily catch em all day. Quote
tubeman Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 My largest smallmouth was 4lbs. caught in the Jackson River below the paper mill in Covington, VA. this year. I used a brown craw with chartreuse tail Gitzit Spider Jig. Quote
