Yup, i have definitely though about switching over to all Veritas rods.

I haven't been fishing long enough to decide that I like one brand more than another. I want to try everything out. I own Quantum, Shimano, Lew's and Pflueger reels, and I love each one of them. My rods are so all over the place, but my next one will either be a Compre or Veritas.

So actually if I think about it, I'm pretty much the opposite. If I buy one thing, I most likely won't buy another one because I want to try something new.

nope, there are way too many good rods (and reels) out there to limit myself. besides, i believe that 'variety is the spice of life'. i purposely buy many different brands just to experience different things and see what they're like. this is not to say i don't have favorites (because i do) but i have found things to like and dislike in all of them.

Have rods and reels from all the major brands. I find the perfect use for each. Even the same rod model from a specific maker will have a slightly different feel. Don't think I will ever stop trying products from all the majors, just so I don't miss that item that just feels good to me.

Some of you know I kinda like Shimano, G. Loomis and St. Croix.

So, it might come as a surprise just how impressed I am with the

new Pinnacle line of both rods and reels:

Consider giving them a try!

I have all Abu rod's and reels. I feel like for the money Vendetta rods, and Revo reels are great catches.

I will always purchase Abu reels because they feel good to me, I would like to some day replace all rods with St C's because I just love em and are awesome for the price.

Yep, in the process right now. Zombie rods and Lew's reels for me.

Yeah, bought my first St.Croix rod several years ago when I had almost all Shimano rods, Now all but 1 of my starting lineup are St.Croix.

I really like the idea of having all the same rods. I never really thought about it before but after reading KVD's books it got me thinking. Right now I only have 5 setups (1 spinning 4 B/C). Most of them are all Shimano and I will probably always keep the reels that way. They have never done me wrong and have never given me a reason to go elsewhere. I am trying to find a good lineup of rods in the $130-$150 range to start building up my collection. While I would love to broaden my selection of Cumara's, I can not justify 10+ rods at $200+ each. I have narrowed my picks to the Powell Max and Shimano Crucial series.

thank god this didnt turn into a Shimano is better than all thread. not brand loyal, DIawa rods, reels, shimano rods/reels, croix, Abu, bps, seen a few people with veritas/skeet.carrot in there boats, looks like a rainbow

dont foget okuma or falcon , they make some awesome stuff

I ditched all of my Shimano and St. Croix rods (Crucials, Avids, Mojos and Premiers) and replaced them with Carbonlites. I'm not a huge fan of the guides, but I love the weight (or lack thereof), and the sensitivity is comparable the Crucials and Avids for less money. I use a few different brands of reels, but I like all of my rod handles to feel the same or very similar.

I'm sure someone will comment on the 1 yr warranty Carbonlite vs. the lifetime on the Crucial and Avid, but if a rod breaks 2-3 yrs after you buy it, it's most likely not the manufacturers' fault and they don't owe you a new rod. If you actually use your gear, any manufacturing/material defects should show up in the first year or less.

Am I brand loyal. Yes but I have yet to find a rod series that carries everything I want so I have a variety of setups.

That is why I am quickly switching to making all my tackle to custom stuff. I am currently about to make my first rod. I'm pretty sure once I start I'll never go back to a store bought brand again

I like to try the different products. I really, really like the shimano citica 200E7 and the Curado 200E5 & E7...really like how they feel in my hand. I have a couple pro qualiifers, and a couple of the older, gold colored bass pro carbonlites for baitcasters. I do like the shimano stradic spinning reels but have fished with pflueger,,(didn't like), quantum...was ok, and a cabelas tournament ZX that I do like.

As far as rods go, I have fished with and enjoyed the cabelas XML series of both casting and spinning rods, as well as offerings from St. Croix, Kistler, and bass pro both casting and spinning. Currently, I have a few Shimano Cumara rods and I really like them.

My take....fish what YOU like, are comfortable with, and can afford.

Try out the Powell Max rods. They are the best bang for the buck IMO. I love the lightweight, crisp, and sensitive feel of them not to mention they have every model to cover all techniques.

Yup.

Look at my review I did of them, they should be on this or the next page.

Have you ever liked a brand so much you switched all your rods over to them?

NO

I've been very pleased with Shimano's Stradics and Curados and St. Croix's Avids for a number of seasons.

Performance is excellent and the price points don't whack my budget too far out of line.

Interesting question.

No, I have not done this and will probably not do it in the future.

I was at a seminar in Richmond, Virginia where a pro said to select one brand of rod and purchase all of their sticks.

You do this so you will have a good feel of how the rods perform for each technique.

Of course, when I heard the pro say this (sorry, but I don't remember who it was but I think it may have been Kevin VanDam) I thought that it was a fantatic marketing tool. I could purchase all G. Loomis rods to get to know the feel of not only how the rods perform but what an empty bank account feels like!

A few of the guys in my bass club have a number of Carrot Sticxs and I have a number of Cumara's and two Skeet Reese yellow rods. I got the yellow rods to match with my LSU purple and gold Ardent reel. I also have All Star, G. Loomis, St. Croix, Kistler, Falcon and Bass Pro Shop rods.

If you want to have only one brand then that is fine. Whatever gives you confidence is what it is all about.

No. I do own 7 Redbones, not because I need the same feel thru out the line, but because it's a darned good rod. The lure wt. limit is 1 oz on my Redbones, there are times I'm throwing something heavier, so I'm using other brands. There have only been a few rods that I was never pleased with right from the git-go.

This is my first season, out of 35, that I have to say, I would switch to all Powell rods, if I had the cake.

Like they said ,for the cost vs. performance ratio, never seen anything come this close.

Powell Power!

I've never actually switched, I just have gravitated that way. Cumulus, Cumara, and NRX. I own almost all of the Cumara series, minus a couple rods here and there. I really believe they're the biggest bang for the buck out there. Sadly, however, they're not going to be available in the current configuration very long. As is the trend with ShiLoomis, I'm sure that we will see the series revamped and upgraded where it needs to be.

I borrowed a Wright & McGill Skeet Reese senko/toad rod about 2 months ago from a friend for a trip. Next day I went out and bought a jig/worm model. I like both of these rods so much that I gave my other rods to a friend to attempt to sell for me as he has more resources than I do. In a attempt to switch over to all W&M Skeets even if it means fewer rods for the time being. Picked up one of the Victory 621 reels as well, like most reviews Ive read they are loud out of the box but it had very little oil in it. Dont know if thats part of the excuse to keep cost down or what, but after oiling it up it has performed well and I do like the over sized handles. Must admit though Im not 100% sold, I like my Abu's and BPS Pro Quilfiers alot. And at roughly $20 cheaper than a PQ, I dont know if Id make a full switch.
