No, probably (almost certainly) never going to do that either.

What about you?

I'm a Pfleuger Phreak. Eventually, all my baitcasters will be Patriarchs. My spinning reels are Presidents. My rods are a mix of BPS Extremes, St. Croix, Kistler, and Loomis. To be honest, when I cross the $100 mark on a rod I can't tell the difference in sensitivity between a $100 rod and a $300 rod I am not a tournament fisherman, so those guys who spend ridiculous amounts of time on the water, making cast, after cast, after cast, will have differing opinions. I love opinions. They are never wrong. :smirk:

Yes. If a company makes a good troible-free product, why stray? That said, I am all pflueger reels and st croix rods now

I started doing that when i started fishing the W & M skeet rods, then i bought a Abu Veritas on sale and now i have been buying nothing but Veritas. Now my deck is all yellow and white rods. My favorite rod is my Duckett though, but i cant afford all new Ducketts. I have 4 skeets, 6 Veritas, 1 Duckett, and 1 BPS extreme for the wife. Eventually id like to replace the skeets with Veritas or Ducketts, but i dont want to commit that much financially to it. Its wierd, theres days where i only feel comfortable fishing the soft tip skeets, and then theres days where i cant believe i fish such a soft tip rod and only use the veritas. Im wierd

Quantum reels and St. Croix rods. No exceptions. I use the Mojo Bass series. I wont spend 300-400 on a rod unless Im making money off it...

Simply put, no. Every year newer and better products hit the market. Does that mean I will stop buying the Powells I love? Nope, I love them! But i'm not going to limit myself to just Powells because I love them. I want to try out whats new, and exciting, and better.

Just my opinion.

I like what I'm using, but i'm always willing to try something different. At present I'm pretty well set on my freshwater and inshore gear, I am looking at another offshore outfit. The Fin Nor Marquesa has caught my eye, I'm considering a Terez for it.

No. I doubt I'll ever be brand faithful. I have a mix of Abu Garcia, BPS, St. Croix, Shimano, Falcon, Quantum, Field & Stream and Diawa Rods. Reels are Abu Garcia, Shimano, BPS and Pflueger..

Right now im in the process of changing everything to Abu rods and reels. I still have my few shimano's and BPS extremes I just like the Abu line up and how they feel in my hand I'v always like Abu Garcia sense I was a little kid learning to fish with cardinals and my Abu Kingfisher bait casting combo I wont at a derby when I was like 10. Im sure I will end up liking another reel maybe and rod and changing it up again but right now its Abu Garcia.

I fished shimano reels b/c I never had any problems with them. I bought an Abu Winch on sale....I started buying more abus!

I still like the consistency of my shimanos, but since then I have moved abus into my lineup.

Kind of, all the rods in my boat at the end of last year were St Croix's, and all my reels were all Shimano's, and from now on, those two brands are all I am buying. BUT last winter I bought some cheap Berkley Lightning Rod Shocks, to use as pond hopping, keep in the back of the Jeep, and/or loaner rods, and mounted my remaining Quantum reels on them, and I ended up liking the dang things so much they have made it to, and have stayed in the boat all year.

Like others, I'm a mixture for rods. If I'm not on a leash :laugh5: when at BPS or Dick's SG, I'll pick up any rod(s) that catch my eye. Fan of St. Croix, Shimano, high-end BPS rods, and a few others. But my main rods are Shimano, my main reels are Shimano (spinning), and Quantum (bc).

Beauty of all the opinions: to each his/her own. What feels great in your hands may not in mine. C'est la vie! Heck, I just started saltwater fishing with my kids because we live near a s/w dock, and we're using my old Ugly Stik Lites (and the Shimano stuff). They're awesome for that kind of fishing where "feel" is not an issue.

But to the point, I have switched over to all Shimano spinning reels. Love the darned things so much more than any other brand I've fished/tried. Have never fished a Shimano bc reel, thankfully. Rods, Shimano b/c of the OTC warranty, but there are plenty that catch my eye which I'd buy, if I had the money.

I have slowly upgraded all my Spinning Rods to SC Avids with Shimano Stradics. I have been fortunate enough to get some great deals on both the Rods and Reels the last couple of Years.

There may be better outfits out there but these work great for me and I don't really need anything different.

6 months ago I would have said yes, baitcasters were either Calcuttas for round reels, or Curados for low profile, then I bought a G series and was not happy, sold it and bought a Lews, that was the end of the reel consolidation by brand, replaced all the Curados with Lews. still Stradics Sustains and Saros, Calcuttas and don't see that changing. "BUT" everyone of em's on a Croix! Avids and Legends, even my fly rods are Avids and Ultra's. So I suppose some day the Croix's could be replaced, but for now, thats how I fish, just proves all thing can change -------Well------ maybe one thing won't, but time will tell, what you think LMG???? :Idontknow:

Each rod in my quiver is a Fenwick

oe

I'm really liking the Fenwick rods and if the New AETO series is better than the Elite Tech smallmouth series as they have claimed well it migh be the first time I consider going with one brand. I really liked the smallmouth series and I still find it hard to believe they are less than $200 bucks.

I never thought I would get so attached to a brand, but I did. I went from using mostly Loomis, Croix, and various $100 class rods to using all Dobyns Champions and Extremes. The Champions are an outstanding value, especially when found used or on sale for under $200. I'm not so sure anymore if you even benefit from a rod of better quality than the Champ. Will an Extreme or a GLX put even a dozen more fish in the boat over the coarse of a year? I'd have to say no.
