0119 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 This year it seemed like everything was leaked out by the companies very early. Even shimano who never speaks before the first day did it. Best line award to trilene? Did no other line get introduced this year from any company, that they had to give it to a 50 year old line that gets a new colored box? Neither Shimano or Daiwa can garner any awards. They give best of show to a kayak model that already got that award in the past? And as amazing to me as it is they give best rod award to what may be the most ugly rod ever conceived, the most interesting think to come out of ICAST is that shimano quietly discontinued the Calais, Cumara and Cumulus. And like I read somewhere its kinda sad to see Bantam reporting on shimano clothing! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 No doubt SHimano and Diawa took a back seat this year. Diawa did have the Lexa and a few rods, but Lews, Abu, and Quantum had a much better ICAST IMO. Lews is quietly sneaking up on Shimano and Diawa to compete for the best quality fishing reels made too. I was not impressed with any baits except maybe the Rage Recon and SHellcracker, but even those are not anything new. It was not a great year, but heck, I still found plenty of stuff to spend my money on lol. Quote
Super User webertime Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 Gotta say the Quantum Energy PT really got me thinking about them for the first time ever, $150 and 6.9oz, and it appears that they may have streamlined the mag adjuster on the side too. The Rapala hybrid wood/plastic look cool too, we'll see how it plays out. I was really bummed when I read that the Daiwa Lexa 100 weighted 11oz!!!!! Put that in a pillowcase and you could kill someone with it! Quote
0119 Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 The 11oz was incorrect. Its like 10.5 for the 300 size. The 200 size is comparable o the competition. The Lexa is the only new reel thats even worth looking at IMO. Quote

Andrew Pfister Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I liked some of the Pure fishing releases for havoc. The new colors for strike king hard baits were good too. But over all Icast was weak. I was disapointted that there was not much detail in any of the KVD videos about the quantum rods. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted July 14, 2012 Super User Posted July 14, 2012 The Lexa 100 is 7.9 oz according to TW Quote
