Diggy Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 You could buy a few and flip them and get the size you want else where if not satisfied Quote
bigdawg74 Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 picked it up yesterday. used it for a few ours thismorning. didnt catch anything worth bragging about but am verry happy with the reel. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 15, 2012 Super User Posted July 15, 2012 From a trion thru the top of line Pflueger's all are smooth, have never had a bad one. I have a 35 that I used for snook for almost 2 years and very pleased. I now use that reel for bass, still going strong with just a drop of oil every now and then. I have a total of 6 Pfluegers, for both fresh and salt, it's getting pretty hard to justify spending more for reels that don't perform any better. My medalist is the smoothest reel I own, bar none, my new arbor has been performing well, but too soon to give a fair review. Some may take issue that Pfluegers have a weaker max drag than some of the competition, however if the drag is set to the line weight, it becomes a moot point. Probably the best thing about them is the price, if they happen to break, which none of mine ever have, cheap enough just to buy a new one and don't worry about fixing it. You made an excellent purchase, enjoy it, and I don't think the 35 is too big. Quote
JunkYard814 Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 it's getting pretty hard to justify spending more for reels that don't perform any better I can't agree with this anymore. I have a President mounted on a Berkley Amp that I had mainly for a loner rod. I end up fishing with it a lot more than I anticipated it. For $80 I don't think you can beat that set-up. Some people laugh, but I actually like it better than a lot of my $300 combos. Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Wish I knew your hardware store... I have a President spinning reel combo that I bought as an upgrade at the start of this season. I love it. I just so happened to be in a rather large sports retailer yesterday and was looking to replace the reel on my ultralight rig with a small President. Sadly, they didn't have them in stock, and they were selling for the regular price. 40% off is a wonderful deal. Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 16, 2012 Super User Posted July 16, 2012 Gotta agree with pflueger makes the best reel for the money. I would go as far as they make some of the best spinning reels on the market. My son has a president 20 and I have a Templar 35. They are smooth casting and great to use. We love them. Quote
