Since I'm going to be getting to as many other lakes and rivers as I can across our great state, maybe you would be kind enough to let me know your lake or river, and what colors are working for you, Im in the Pine Bluff area and typically fish the Arkansas river.

hello hooks, i'm in the s.w. corner known as rednexarkana. i have started fishing degray this summer as i have just started fishing again and the caddo river below it. unfortunately i haven't had that much luck but what i have caught has been on split tail jigs or spinner baits and chartreuse. a lake report said zara spook was a big thing but that was the first of the month. zara has always caught fish for a long time.

Hey fellas. I'm located in Benton, AR. I'm not a fishing expert by any means. I know this post is old but I was looking for AR guys. This past summer me and a buddy caught a ton on DeGray in the Yancey area. We went as far back in it as we could and started working the banks with a Super Spook Jr. Later in the morning we stayed in the main channel to Yancey as they were schooling. We caught 'em all on Spooks. Awesome time! Now it's Feb and I've got a new boat so I'm fishing Ouachita as soon as the weather warms a little. Can't wait to learn this lake.

Ouachita is a hard lake to fish but good fish this time of year work the rock points with pig and jig in black or brown.

work it slow the bite will be soft. Ihave fish it with temps in the 30s and caught'em in the 4 to 6 # size.

Lake Ouachita seems intimidating to me but that's because I'm new to it. What do you think makes it so hard to fish?

From Mt. Harber to the dam is hard for me I do not fish it a lot but need to. The upper end of the lake Hwy 27, little fir and big fir  is where I caught my pb on pig and jig. We are going to camp at DemeyPoint spring break. The son in law and me are going to fish the clear deep water east some.

I always start at Brady Mt. If you look at a topo map towards Big & Little Fur it looks like a lot of good fishing spots. From Brady Mt to Blakely dam it seems to be extremely deep and wide. I'm going to try to learn the points and secondary points along the lake.

I live in Beebe, and fish Greers Ferry, Barnett, and Maumelle. I am still learing all these lakes, but I have been successufl on Greers Ferry with Chartruese, Sexy Shad, and Green Pumpkin colors. Barnett and Maumelle about the same with craw colors for Maumelle.

This year I want to fish the Arkansas river Big Bass Bonanza. I will probably fish the area around Little Rock/North Little Rock/Maumelle area.

I hear Maumelle is extremely tough to fish. I've heard people say no underwater timber and very clear.

Hello, I thought I'd chime in on this thread.  I've never had much luck at Maumelle.  This is just my opinion, but I think it suffers from too much fishing pressure due to its location.  My two best bass have come from Little Blakley creek near the main lake at Ouachita.  That's north east of Brady.  My favorite thing to do on Ouachita is throw medium to deep diving cranks in natural colors during the pre-spawn.  Ouachita can be a difficult lake because of the water clarity.  The good thing about Ouachita, however, is that there is a lot of grass.  Get yourself a set up that will allow for long casts with flouro line and you'll be ahead of the game.  Work that crankbait to where its contacting the top of the hydrilla and you'll get bit.  If you get too much grass, change to a shallower diving crank.  Good luck!

I have done decent at Maumelle, nothing giant but good sized. There isn't much for natural cover but there are some artificial cover placed all over the lake. As for clarity, it is kinda clear but nothing compared to Greers Ferry.

I need to venture down to Ouachita.

Hey guys, I'm going to Ouachita tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes. I talked to a co-worker who runs Mr. Bass of AR and he is fishing the Trader Bill's tournament this weekend. He says on Ouachita the fish he caught were up towards the creeks in as shallow as 2 foot of water. This is my first year to fish Ouachita so I'm not much help. I hope I can learn this lake and share some good info.

I'm curious as to how you did.  Did the wind keep you off the lake?

I live in McRae, and I have repeatedly tried at Greers Ferry and can't find the bass.. I think it's just catfish in there, lol

Holy cow. I did not do good. I was fighting the wind more than I was fishing. Needless to say my trip didn't produce any valuable fishing information. I decided to pack it in and go arrange my tackle onboard. At least that was productive. I'm waiting for some good weather. Ouachita feels like an ocean in that main channel when that wind is whipping through.

I fished a very small body of water that day.  We resorted to basically dragging an achor.  Ouachita can be down right dangerous on a day like that.  Don't be too discouraged.  That lake has quality fish in it.  Wait until you accidentally hook into a striper!

Thanks. There can be some pretty big swells out there. I know better weather is ahead. This week is terrible though, 15-20mph winds. Me and my buddy caught a few hybrids with schooling blacks on DeGray last summer. My personal best striper was 33lbs on Lake Greeson in March of 1999. What a mammoth! It altered my view on swimming in lakes...

I'll give you AR guys a follow up on some of my recent trips to Ouachita.

The last two weeks I've thrown Rat'L'Traps in a white color or chrome and I caught a good sized striper, maybe between 12-15 lbs and some black bass and Kentucky bass. Everything I caught was near the Cedar Fouche area in coves or off islands.

My uncle says on DeGray that he caught 7 or 8 on pumpkinseed Flukes.

No go for me this Friday on Ouachita. 18mph winds in the forecast.

Good luck to everyone!

This is my first post on hear but thought I would throw my report in for Dardanelle. I have been fishing every chance I get this month and the fishing has been great. We have been catching all our fish on the lilly pad flats. I have been swimming a zoom craw or a horny toad on a jighead threw the stalks. We have average probably 15 to 20 fish apiece untill my last set of days off where it slowed a bit. I fished Monday and this pattern held up but a little slower I caught about 10 fish all about 2 to 3 pounds. I went out Tuesday and the pattern kind of fell apart. The gar moved in and I could not keep them off my bait so I move to some spots off the main  river and picked up a few fish. I did get a late start both days so I only fished from about noon to 4 and by myself this time.

Who has been fishing the cleansing waters of Lake Ouachita lately?

Bass fishing can be tough on Greers Ferry! It hot right now! I just fished a tournament there this past weekend and out of 89 boats there was 71 limits weighed in. It only took 12lbs to win it so it was small but a lot of fish was caught! Mainly flippen brush, but we caught ours in about 6 ft of water with tubes. We was fishing for smallmouth, i bet we caught 40 between the two of us. i was by far the funnest tournament day i ever had wieghed in 8 lbs good enough for 14th place and brought home a check!

I'm glad someone out there is catching black bass on Greer's.  I go to that lake for one thing: Hybrids.

fry when you are better, i'd like to hear what works at degray. i usually fish from the spillway ramp in the cove there and around towards the lake but distance is limited in a canoe with a trolling motor. i also fish the lower lake off channel road at the ramp below the bridge there. i try to fish there 2-3 times each month. thank, get well soon.
