indyangler Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Hey guys. Been playing around with my baitcaster setups a bit and wanted to get your opinion. What do you guys think of these setups? Any changes you would make? Frog Setup: Revo Sx (6:4:1) with 7’ 3” Vendetta , H, XF action and 65lb PP Braid T-rig, jig, lipless crank Setup: G series Curado (6:5:1) with Veritas 6’9”, MH, XF action and 40lb Suffix 832 braid Deep Crank, Big spinnerbait Setup: BPS PQ (5:2:1) with Cabela XML 6’10” MH, F action, 12lb yozuri hybrid Shallow Crank, Chatterbait, spinnerbait setup: Kinectic (7:0:1) with 7’ Cara, MH, F action, with 40lb Suffix 832 braid. I throw buzzbaits on occasion. Thought about using the Kinectic setup, but could use some help here. Thanks Fellas! Quote
Matthew Veillion Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I like your setups man, maybe get a topwater setup? For spooks, poppers, and buzzbaits just my 2 cents Quote
Super User islandbass Posted July 11, 2012 Super User Posted July 11, 2012 I'd add a finesse one if such would be suitable to your area. The finesse rig might do well with your treble lures too and so it would also include your topwater. Buzzbaits could be handled with the one you have for spinnerbaits anyway. Quote
jerzeeD Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Might want to consider carrying an extra spool filled with flouro for your 2nd setup. Braid is good for t-rigs, but not so hot for lipless cranks due to the floating nature. Before you tell me suffix 832 sinks, it doesn't really do it well. I use it on my frog rod, it may sink a little more than other braids on the market, but it still is far from optimal for lipless crankbaits. Quote
jj'sbassinforfun Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I treat buzzbaits just like spinnerbaits except I use a higher gear for buzzbaits(7's) and slow down to 6's for spinnerbaits. I like a fast tip for them. XF might be a little too stiff. Your Kinectic should do fine. Quote

That's a lot of MH setups, really depending on what/how/where you fish to give you good opinions but one I can say is where's the moderate action for the cranks? You have lipless and depths so I would suggest a good all around crankbait rod. Quote
