shady oaks Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Coming from the bike world, I know the demo's go through the ringer during it's demo time. With that said, I never sold a demo that ended up with anything other than recall service work (along with normal interval services). How about it the boating world? I know the local shops' salesman uses it for tournaments/advertising along with potential customers. Would you buy one? For the record, we're talking about a Nitro Z7 Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted July 10, 2012 Super User Posted July 10, 2012 Things I'd want to know would be who drove it, and if it was a tournament sponsor boat, where it was driven. Most likely a Z7 is smaller than most of these guys would be running Lake Michigan in, but you just never know. If you've watched some of these guys out there skipping waves, those boats take a real pounding that could cause stress problems in the hull. Maybe find out what tournament trail the user was fishing as this could give you an idea of the kind of water they're fishing. Is this a one year old model? Quote
shady oaks Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 It's a current 2012 model. Not for sale yet, but wanting to get my ducks in a row now in case the wife and I decide to pull the trigger now versus next spring. From talking randomly with the guy, it sounds like he mainly fishes lakes from 500-2500 acres. I read somewhere that you can print out an engine report to see how it's been ran (broke in). Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 10, 2012 Super User Posted July 10, 2012 Demo..... Pro staffer just what are you talking about???? There is a world of difference?? Demos we had at the dealership used by sales people who worked 60 hours per week and had little time on the water? Pro staffers were sort of owned by guys who fished the life out of them and got new ones every year. Quote
shady oaks Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 No pro staffer. Tuesday evening fishing league with a demo that they take customers out in. Quote
scbassin Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I bought a Ranger demo from a dealer that was used for tournament fishing. It was less than a year old & was loaded. It had not been titled so I was the 1st owner & got the full warranties on the boat & motor. I paid way less for the rig & it is still running strong. Quote
tritonguy Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I wouldn't be too worried because you still get a full warranty but you should get a deep discount because you are basically buying a used boat. Quote
