VABasser Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I know there have been a number of frog threads recently, but thought this question might get lost in them. I was on youtube last night just watching some topwater bass videos when I came across one that showed a type of frog I had never seen before. They gave a site to further check them out so I went there. Here's the site http://www.floridakayakfishing.com/ On the homepage there you can see some videos of the maker of this frog (Ken Daubert) fishing it and one that shows the action of the frog. It looks good, but I've never heard anything about them til I stumbled on that video. Anyone hear of these, good or bad? The guy fishes in Florida, maybe some of the Florida crew here has heard of him, the website says he used to guide down there. They aren't cheap though. A frog in the lowest priced "series" of these frogs, the Clone series, goes for about $10 the site says. I guess its not much more than a Spro. My two concerns with these, not knowing anything about them, are the weight/castability of the frog and how the legs would hold up. What do you guys think? Quote
brushhoggin Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 sorry, havent fished em, but they are a beautiful work of art.......that would get torn up by a bass in my neck of the woods. maybe if it came with more than one extra pair of legs. also looks kinda light and i like to really get my frog out there. Oh and thats the smallest bass Ive ever seen thats "way over ten pounds" Quote
NOVA Angler Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 That video of the bass coming out of the water to eat that frog is pretty wild. Again I'm not sure that this guy has an accurate perception of fish size, but that was a very nice fish. Give 'em a try and let us know VABasser! Quote
NOVA Angler Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I wonder why they photoshopped the guy in the 9/29/09 picture near the bottom... Quote
wisconsin heat Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 im not an expert on big bass, but that bass looks to be 5-7 lbs..... its funny when ppl guess the weight then double it. Quote
