PABASS Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Prefer a two piece, spinning reel. Needs to be very sensitive I plan to use this for finesse type fishing, light jigs, weightless plastics, drop shot and Texas rig plastics. What would you suggest? Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 10, 2012 Super User Posted July 10, 2012 Link to another thread on this page about 2-piece rods. Might be able to find what you are looking for with among one of these brand of rods. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 In that price range I don't think you can beat the Denali jadewood, There is a 6ft 6 medium that makes a great finesse rod.. If there is any way I would stay away from a 2 piece rod. Quote
PABASS Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Vertas 79.99 Light Strong Sensitive. Looking for a spinning rod and 2 piece simply because of storage and transportation. The spinning rod was $99 on TW. Quote
cfout4050 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I seen walmart spinning vertas 79.99 I believe is where I was at. Quote
Fishin24/7 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I hate two piece rods, they break very easy, come apart on cast, and aren't as sensitive. If you must go two piece though, the abu Garcia veritas is the only one I know of above the $50 mark. I have several of the one peace models and like the a lot. Quote
jerzeeD Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I believe you can get a St. Croix Premier in a 2 piece rod around that price point. They are Strong, pretty sensitive, and made in the USA with good components. Quote

My favorite rod I own is 2pc 5years old never has it come apart extremely confident in the connection and the sensitivity on it is great. Way better than any veritas but then its not in the same price range still there are great 2pc rods out there. Like mentioned look into a USA made Croix for quality 2pc rod. Quote
Arv Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 The old Shimano Compre travel edition with cork handles. I've got one that I use exactly for those applications. I don't know if they still make it with all the new series out now, but if you can find one I think it would be worth checking out. 1 Quote

Needs to be very sensitive I plan to use this for finesse type fishing, light jigs, weightless plastics, drop shot and Texas rig plastics. What would you suggest? If I could get very sensitive 2-piece rods I would be all over them. Problem is, it just does not work out that way. Sure there are some that will be more sensitive than others, but I am able to travel 7'5'' rods in a 2-door car. The benefits of having a one-piece rod, far outweigh storage capacity capabilities of a two-piece rod. Some suggestions have been given, but I doubt they would even be close to sensitivity as just a simple take your pick $100 1-piece rod that there are many debates on in the forum. I am a sensitivity freak, I love that side of fishing gear and is why I drop so much money on some of my rods. The truth is, having vibrations and feel being transferred down the length of the blank gets decreased when there is a division among the blank. Even if it gets reconnected. That said, some situations absolutely call for having a two-piece rod. In such a situation, I do not feel having a very-sensitive rod is something you will get. In any case, I am a huge fan of fluorocarbon, but if you are looking for sensitivity in a two-piece rod you are probably best going with braid and really watching your line on the surface. Braid on a tight line can make up for blank dampening that occurs. Just wanted to give my opinion on the matter, you may not have the same sensitivity standards that I do personally. I just wouldn't like to see you put down $100 bucks and be dissatisfied. Link to another thread on this page about 2-piece rods.
