nralover Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I know alot of guys have a HUGE assortment of lures dedicated to catching bass. If you had to start from scratch, could you fill a box with what you need for 100.00 or less? Would that get you what you need for most situations? Give us an itemized list:) I think this thread might be fun.... Quote
Carrington Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 i personally would get like 1-2 sexy shad colored shallow diving cranks. then get a chart colored spinner and a white spinner. get a black jig. then get a few bags of watermelon senkos with red flakes( best worm ever made). Some worm hooks. i would buy as many of these items as you can in all different colors plus the ones i mentioned. i personally use a lot of cranks, senkos and shakey heads. Quote
Carrington Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 but also when you go ask guys at the store because they know more about the local conditions then i do so what i am telling you may not work as well as it does where i live. Quote
hmongkidBee Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Now that I have been bass fishing for a while I can start fresh and spend only $100 to fill my tackle box. Here's my list: GYCB senko (watermelon, pumpkinseed, any variation of those two) Spinnerbaits (I use basscraft custom spinnerbaits because they offer lumaflex skirts which look awesome and catches bass) Jigs (I prefer swimming jigs and buy them in white, green pumpkin, and black/blue. Any variation of those three main colors) Trailers (Netbaits paca chunk, and Rick Clunn Twin Tail spinnerbait trailer, that's all I need) You can throw spinnerbaits and jigs year round. As for the senko it flat out catches fish no matter how you fish it. In the wintertime I can drop shot it or throw it weightless and catch fish. The rest of the time I throw spinnerbaits and swim jigs. Quote

Gangley Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 depends on where you are located and what waters your fishing. For me, I fishing mainly weeded lakes and ponds, so i would load up with a hundred dollars worth of: Topwater lures (Rapala F series and Rebel Minnows) Frogs (ZOOM Horny Toads and Stanley Ribbits) Jigs (Flipping or Pitching) Soft plastic creatures and worms (ZOOM Brush Hog & Berkley 7" Powerbait Worms) I can fish year round with that Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 18, 2010 Super User Posted January 18, 2010 depends on where you are located and what waters your fishing. ... My question too. Where do you fish? What are your waters like in terms of clarity and cover? Do you have more than one outfit? Quote
nralover Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 depends on where you are located and what waters your fishing. ... My question too. Where do you fish? What are your waters like in terms of clarity and cover? Do you have more than one outfit? Maybe you guys misunderstood me. I wasn't asking for advice. I was asking what you would put together for 100.00 that you felt like you could take to any spot in the U.S. (be it a farm pond or a large lake) and catch bass regardless of weather, cover, etc. Quote

Super User South FLA Posted January 21, 2010 Super User Posted January 21, 2010 Where is "The_Natural" when you need him, he could fill two boxes with that budget. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 A good started kit could be gotten at walmart. Grab a couple of Bandit 100s (I prefer the rootbeer and white/chartreuse colors), a couple of Rapala DT 10s (I like the perch color and baby bass color), two bags of Zoom flukes (green pumpkin and albino colors), two bags of Kinami Flashes (green pumpkin and black colors), a couple of bags of culprit worms (pumpkinseed and green pumpkin colors), a Terminator spinnerbait in white and green, a Booyah buzzbait in black, a Mepps fury #3 with red dots, some lazer-sharp hooks, and some bullet weights. This should only be about $70. Then fish them all like crazy. When you figure out what style of fishing you like, as well as what works, spend the rest of the hundred on those types of baits. Quote
Big O Tires Angler Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Where is "The_Natural" when you need him, he could fill two boxes with that budget. Hahaha he's probably in jail by now! Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Put some Zoom Flukes in there, very versatile and produce a ton of bass! Good luck with filling your tackle box. Quote
