J. M. Richardson Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Just ordered a new Team Daiwa Tierra 2500 spinning reel and a Team Daiwa light and tough 7' M Fast rod to go with it. Monkey sucked about $150 out of me. He may get more coming up though since I obviously could use some new tackle to go with that awesome rig. Good news is I got a deal on the combo and I need it in a tournament since my college's club is now sponsored by Daiwa and it is the best rod and reel I have purchased to date. Bad news is I have live on ramen noodles and protein shakes for about 2 weeks. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 22, 2010 Super User Posted January 22, 2010 Good deal but a man's got to do what a man's got to do. Quote

cwen Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Dopn't feel bad. I quit chewing tobacco 2 months ago and cost me around $700. I told my wife that I bought all my fishing stuff in trade for all the money I would spend on skoal. Quote
angler1 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I think I am about to get bit. I have been hearing those voices again. Something bad might happen tonight when my wife goes out and the monkey and I are home alone with an alcoholic beverage. Yea, the monkey likes to drink and act a fool with my credit card. He has the card # memorized. I hope I can come up with a plan between now and then. Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 22, 2010 Super User Posted January 22, 2010 Quit complaining. You can shear a sheep many times, you can only skin it once. The bait monkey knows this. The bait monkey will never gouge you to the point of absolute poverty and ruin. Get some semblance of control over yourself and accept that you are addicted to fishing and fishing tackle. It is an addiction, just like any other addiction. Accent the positive. If we was addicted to cocaine, all we'd have to show for it at the end of the day is a runny nose. As it is, we have modest piles of fishing tackle to play with on those days when we can't go fishing. Hope this helps Quote
J. M. Richardson Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Not complaining here, just commenting that I got the itch to buy something on impulse and acted on it. I guess some people shop for clothes to relieve stress, the members here on bass resource buy dangerous looking hooks and nasty smelling plastics to do the same thing. Quote

NeedAnewScreenName-587943 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 yeah I got got the bait monkey bad too... today ordered about 20 jigging spoons, 75 big swimbaits and a bucket full of grub jigheads. all day at work that dang bait monkey sits on my shoulder and whispers in my ear until I crack. next up, replacement trolling motor (torqeedo monkey, lol) (not 75 expensive swimbaits, rather a bunch of 6"-9" swimbaits in packages) Quote
