EvanT123 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I catch little bass in smalls ponds 1-4 are acers If there are little ones what's the likely good of finding the big one? Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 8, 2012 Super User Posted July 8, 2012 Depends. I would assume there would be, but how new are the ponds? How hard are they fished? Are they stocked? Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 8, 2012 Super User Posted July 8, 2012 The "dinks" are always active. The big mama's will swim slowly; take a longer look at your bait; and go to deep water next to shallow water for safety. Also, the big mama's have their own places to rest and ambush baitfish and they will run the dinks out of the area. Dinks and "buck bass" will go shallow and to the bank when the big mama's go deep. That is why you will catch more dinks and buck bass than the big ladies. Go deep young man, go deep! Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 8, 2012 Super User Posted July 8, 2012 Sam said it so well. I have a small pond, about a half to three quarters of an acre in size, that I fish and have pulled a 3 and a 5 pounder out along with dinks and bucks in 3 times fishing it. There will be nice fish in there just have to work harder and they are less numbers than smaller fish you are hooking. Keep at it you will figure it out. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 8, 2012 Super User Posted July 8, 2012 There are always bigger fish in the pond, there has to be an alpha fish unless someone caught it and put in on their wall Quote
