Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 Well like most places its been hot the past week 98-104 well the bass were hitting on Palm Trees AKA Fat Ikas. Mon Tue Fri all hits were on the initial fall but today Sat all catches were off bottom. I dont get into the technical aspects but think front is approaching so that might be one cause for the difference. Nothing big but at least catchin'em. I targeted weed mats most came from these but a few were out deep 20+. I managed one jig bite was 60 feet out took on fall nothing else on jig. Quote
Broke bass fisherman Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Nice fish. I'll have to take a look at those Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted July 8, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks guys So you know after about 4-5 of the size pictured the bait is all torn, skirt detatches, or reel back without one on.. Ill try some mend-it or the like see if can be repaired Quote
TrippyJai Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I've been using Mend-It this year on my senkos and they work great. Throw the used ones in a bag and take them home for repair. A tip would be after you mend them together, coat the outside for extra strength. By the time you take them out on your next trip, the smell is gone or you can put some scent on the bait. Btw, do you rig your baits standard or backwards? Quote
Big-O Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 WTG, Bunch of nice ones for a HOT day on the water and great photos too! Quote

I rig backwards I think now that is the standard. I couldnt find the mend-it locally so tried superglue NONONO didnt work. I tried my gorilla glue and thats ok for now I guess. Thanks BIG-O I failed to mention on the jig is a Rage Tail Baby Craw and was the bass that weighed the most. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 15, 2012 Super User Posted July 15, 2012 It was very difficult for me to get myself to use the "TURD" (that's what my uncle calls it, haha) because the are the dumbest looking baits out there. I tried a bag out and I gotta tell ya, they flat out catch fish. They aren't high on my list of top baits, but that's just because I can't get used to using something so dumb looking., haha 1 Quote
Sam Fisher Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Nice summer time bassing in Illinois was tuff for me. Still early in the year for south florida.... Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted July 18, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 18, 2012 As long as the TURD produces it can look like Joan Rivers its fine by me Hit the weeds again and here some more that the TURD caught also one nearly took my pole in. I laid it down to reel in a senko set-up and while I reeled in my senko set-up got bit on Palm Tree and pole started going towards lake wasnt big fish but it had some fight. Here the little guy that nearly took my pole Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 18, 2012 Super User Posted July 18, 2012 Japanese for "squid". If you look at it in that context, not so ugly. 1 Quote
