tholmes Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 My lovely wife, that is. She asked me the other night, "what was that fishing reel that you've always wanted?" I told her it was an ABU Ambassadeur Record. She said "Go ahead and order one." Yowzah! Today, the brown truck left a package from Tackle Warehouse. Insied was this beauty! I'll give it a good workout this weekend, but tonight, mama's goin' out for steaks! Tom Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2012 I usually get the "What do you need another fishing reel for?" speech. I try to follow it up wit the "For the same reason you need another purse or pair of shoes" argument but then I remember I can't win. Quote

That reminds me, my wife keeps wanting a good quality pink light action pole and pink tackle bag. No joke. what is somewhat embarrising is when she outfishes me by choosing lures based on their "cuteness" Quote

She has a pink tackle box too. Quote

I bought my wife one of the cheap "cute" pink combos and it only lasted a year even with the limited use it got from her and it kept tangling and was heavy so she'd get tired of holding it after a little while. That's why I went with the top of the line stuff I could afford to get her. Now her casting and reeling is effortless so she can fish longer and if she fishes longer it means I get to fish longer Quote
BassinMD Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I got my girl the pflueger pink rods n reels and she likes them a lot, I wish she would take my cute lures all she ever uses is a t-rig junebug senko and always manages to catch a pile f keepers... Drives me insane Quote
buzzfrog Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 my gf is on a spinnerbait role... the cute purple ones at nite, the cute pink ones in the day... in between she enjoying catchin gills for catfish bat.. which she loves Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 8, 2012 Super User Posted July 8, 2012 Pink is also my daughter's favorite color. The casting rod I had made for her as a Christmas gift a couple years ago had to be pink. She has a couple cheap pink spinning combos. I've tried to tell her she could get much better rods and reels if she didn't have to have pink. She doesn't care. Her tackle box is also pink. She fishes Senkos almost exclusively. This is one place where she doesn't insist on pink. I continue to work on her about going with something besides pink, but can't seem to get anywhere. EDIT: Sorry man. Forgot to congratulate you on having such a nice wife. Apparently you did good. I have to take my wife out for steak dinners even tho she has never once told me to buy a new reel. Quite the opposite. She tells me I already have too many rods and reels. As if that could be possible! Quote
tholmes Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Nice reel. You throwing swimbaits with it? Haha, X2. haha. Yeah, that's one of the things I plan to do with it. Tom Quote
