Sam Fisher Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I'm betting Broward should see some good fishing this evening!!!!! Warm day high UV index and 50% chance of rain in the afternoon. Love Florida summer fishing, afternoon rains get them nice and active topwater fishing at its best in Florida Now chop chop and get to getting Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 It was nice meeting Qnormus the other day, I didn't have a strike on my fluke and he caught a bass on his first cast with a senko. Yesterday morning I was fishing the outgoing tide, had one snook on for less than a few seconds and that was it. Sun up came and I put a spoon on, big mistake not using wire, first cast and I get cut off on my newly purchased lure that was used for the first time. I put a wire leader on and caught 1 small cuda. I went to my pond at home and did some bass fishing, the humidity and gnats chased me out, the dinks were active on a senko. I'm getting ready to head offshore in a couple of hours. Quote
piscicidal Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I haven't fished in a couple weeks. Tried a couple times, but got chased off by weather. Gonna try the lake tomorrow and maybe slims tourney on Sunday. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 25, 2012 Super User Posted July 25, 2012 i did head off shore this morning for a few hours, west wind, calm and slow bite. We ventured out to 150' where we saw fish busting, thinking they may have been dolphin. I took out my mh inshore rod that had a spoon on it, as I'm retrieving my 8000 spheros gets hit and the fight was on. I gotta say I was gaining on the fish but a real slow go, then my 20# mono snaps with my drag set to let the fish run. 10 minutes later on the same rod, same story, line breaks. Once again I hit get this time on my Avet, rod nearly bent in half, I can hardly turn the crank but I'm making headway, my rod bumps the bimini top and my 30# mono breaks off losing about 75 yds of line. Result zero fish in the boat, sore back with 1 chiropractic visit and 2 new spools of line purchased. Way it goes some time, just wish I would known what was on the other end of the line, just a guess, some very large kingfish, but who knows. Quote
808bass Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I went out again last night and was able to catch a few small bass... this one being my biggest... Quote

George Welcome Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 My guess - Bonita: They are thick as thieves right now and running in the the 30-pound range. Quote
piscicidal Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I went out with Bruce (bocabasser) to Okeechobee yesterday. Really tough conditions...hot, bluebird skies. The fish are scattered and not extremely active which makes it pretty tough. But we caught our share of fish....we caught them on the ledges, in the grass, flipping, cranking rock humps way offshore, dragging worms in deep holes...We called it a day at noon, just too hot. But I enjoyed the trip. Bruce can find the fish, no doubt... I'm going to pass on Slims tourney, tomorrow, at Okeechobee. Just two busy right now. I'll do a little snook fishing on the beach with my son tomorrow morning. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 27, 2012 Super User Posted July 27, 2012 If you can stand the heat, the saltwater bite has been great this week. Lots of fish to be caught right now on the reefs as well as offshore. My deep freezer is packed once again. The next few days at the marinas should be much nicer now that most of the people have left with mini season ending. Catch the tides right, set out a few blocks of chum in 40 to 80 FOW and you'll load the boat with snapper in no time. Dolphin are out there also. Found a good school yesterday. Smallest fish was about an 8 pounder with most in the 12 range. Great table size. There are still some sailfish around, had to put up the kites and live bait to get them going though. Awesome fun on lighter spinning tackle. Quote
Super User MCS Posted September 27, 2012 Super User Posted September 27, 2012 So here is my question to all you long time florida anglers. When is does the "fall pattern" start? October? It is a little cooler here, mid to high 80's versus low 90's in august. and about 10 degrees cooler at night, but I am not seeing anything coming shallow yet. Still fishing like summer so far for me. Any thoughts or advice? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 27, 2012 Super User Posted September 27, 2012 Thoughts, yes.........advice, no. I've cut back my bass fishing the last couple of weeks, even though it's been a bit cooler the humid seems to be higher and the gnats have been out in force. When I do get out the fishing as had some very active days and dead ones, the fish have been puny. I won't get too focused with my bass fishing until the mullet run is over, hopefully that won't be until sometime in November. At that time I'll be fishing a lot more, about 4- 5 hours saltwater in the morning and 2-3 hours bass in the afternoon. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted September 27, 2012 I have been catching nothing but babies. I am talking like 4 to 6 inch bass attacking my 5" senko. I was out today around 4 pm in my backyard and saw a nice 3 pounder by shore but I scared it off and caught a little 4" bass Quote
Mike Clemons Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 there are many variables, and a big difference when you consider north fla. to central or south fla. but in n. fla. we have more of a temp change than the rest of the state.length of daylite coupled w/ water temp triggers bass movement.the length of daylite is approaching the right time and then when the water temp gets and settles in the mid 70's you'll see the bass start to move more predictably.even now a couple cool nights will cause some bass to move prematurally and spark a short bite.the window of opportunity is brief but can be sweet.there are some fish in transition already, starting to move to intermediate points ,weed edges ,a little shallower depths. all depends on the body of water. 1 Quote

Good info thanks. I know what you are talking about, I have had a few days that were insainly good shallow, topwater. but most days are still fishing like july or august, slow and slower out deeper or in shady strucutre. Super User MCS Posted September 29, 2012 Super User Posted September 29, 2012 From 6:30 to 7 am blue gill colored Bitters skippy shad got me a couple of nice fish, 2-3 pound range....was on the way to work and couldn't resist. Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I don' t know about fall pattern but down here in s Florida I seen beds as early as October. Quote

Jeeze no wonder you don't know about fall patterns lol, spring summer skip back to spring lol but we get a little cold snap up here, gotta wait til I hear Jan or Feb for first beds. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 30, 2012 Super User Posted September 30, 2012 Well it's still summer in Delray Beach, quite humid and what bass aren't lethargic are running tiny. As far as I'm concerned Fall doesn't start until the end of October. I like to target the species that are " running", won't be focusing on bass until I think it's time, which for me isn't now. Quote
1234567 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 SirSnook same here on the west coast. I hope after the water cools a bit more they will get more active. I like fishing but it's hard work somedays just to get bit!!! I need to get back out on the boat... Quote
tennsopher Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 What triggers the bite for me is the first two cold fronts that come through. What I mean by this,is the first two that have a noticeable change in air temperature (chilly). This is when the specks start to bite and the bass seem to really to turn on.Keep in mind you need about three days of stable weather following said fronts. Then the fishing can be fantastic.Good luck, it should happen soon. Great bite the last two weeks, as soon as that front left Wed it has been DEAD! supposed to warm and be steady mid 80's so hoping the consistent temp and a week of warmer brings the bite back for next weekend.
