Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 12, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 12, 2012 Went out this morning to a new spot, got chewed up by skeeters. Didn't fish it long, but saw a few nice top water strikes and I had a light tackle with me, no top water. No worm bites and the spot is hard to fish due to the brush and the reeds, but it looks like it might produce a good one. These ponds are about 10 yrs old. They are the two ponds on racetrack one is right opposite the dog track entrance. there is even a little spot to park. Looks like they were hanging out by the edge of the reeds and busting fish that were coming up to bust the bugs. give it a try, take bug spray. I know the pond that you are taking about I was on my way home from St. Augistine yesterday and saw that little pond you are talkin about and I was going to check it out this weekend. I am even going to fish the pond at the poker room because it looks like it holds some monsters even though it says no trespassing, that's probably because it does hold monsters Quote

If you wanna since you are in the area turn into Bartram springs right there is a pond on the right by the elementry school and a smaller one across the street by themselves think and they are not all over grown. Super User MCS Posted July 12, 2012 Super User Posted July 12, 2012 Are you talking about in the Tampa, FL area? Nope Sorry man, I am talking about Jacksonville area. I forgot there is a racetrack road over there too LOL I only Saltwater fished, a handful of times when I lived in St. Pete, I know some spots for that if your interested. I also happened to run into the fish stocking list on the florida fish and wildlife site check it out man, Magiore and a few in hillsborough have been stocked with LMG and Blugills in the last few years. Deadeye-1 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Well like I had said before it has been hit or miss for me lately. Today it was HIT HIT HIT. My friend and I went out fishing on his boat today in the Lake Woodruff area. We put 45 Bass into the boat, including 9 that were real nice sized keepers. Two went 3 lbs and several were over 2 lbs. Today we set three records for us. My personal best for Most Bass Caught in a Day, Our Best Day fishing as a Team, and for my friend the most Bass ever landed in his boat in one day. Maybe things are starting to change back to normal after TS Debby. 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 13, 2012 Super User Posted July 13, 2012 I hope so man, will be good to get back to normal. Also I feel the full moon weeks are hard to fish normal fishing hours too. But regardless you had a great day, nice work! Congrats on all your records man! 1 Quote
JSPOONE Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 well you need to get behind those buildings and fish em to see what they produce, you will probably have good luck since you never see anyone fishing them Yeh I went yesterday and this morning caught a couple just some dinks not the size I usually catch at them. shakey head and wacky rigged senkos are the only things getting bit right now 1 Quote
Sam Fisher Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 With all the rain coming in the next few days should make for some good fishing. I like to run a top water right after a down poor. Quote

This is more evidence why I need to buy a boat or find a freiburg with a boat so I can slay these fish Quote
Super User MCS Posted July 15, 2012 Super User Posted July 15, 2012 Went bluegill fishing with my boys n dad today, they did alright. In between refing and baiting hooks I was throwin my new purchase some KVD finesse worms in mutilator, on sale at gander for 3 buck. Had two hits and misses. Stopped on way home at my spot had a 13 or 14 inch on 3 casts. Seems like temps are coming down and moon is going away, they are coming back. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 15, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 15, 2012 That's good to hear I went ou and got a new tackle bag and a few soft plastics and crank baits so hopefully I get something tomorrow. I am goin to check out that spot on the corner of bartram and race track and I am going to this pond that I saw behind publix on race track, that shoppin center has been there for a while an when I went to pick up some things couple days ago I saw a few nice size bass close to shore so I know it has some fish in there 1 Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 17, 2012 Author Super User Posted July 17, 2012 Man I'm still not catching anything I had a 5 or 6 pounder on land couple days ago and then the fish came unhooked and my iPhone droped out of m pocket into the water and on top of that the fish did too. Sucks but still that was the only thing I have caught and I haven't been getting any strikes at all. My iPhone is fine but my fishin moral is dead lol I don't know what is happening with these fish Quote
mg4u2nv Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Its been pretty tough down here in south FL. Went just for a little bit the last couple days, and all i caught was a sunburn. Good news is the snakeheads have been great the last few times i made the trek to coral springs, so i may head there again before the week's out to get some kind of confidence! haha. Good luck!
