Super User roadwarrior Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 I fish for stripers on the Tennessee River, trout on the White River. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 I fish for stripers in the bay at Kennebunkport, bluegill fishing with my 5 wt flyrod and trick or treat fish with spinners. Quote
logan9209 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Last summer I had just got into fishing and quickly gave up on bass fishing and started fishing for bream. I didn't know then what I know now. On my lake summertime bream fishing is really good, but I get so bored with it. I still fish for bass, just not as many hours put into it or I split my hours between early morning and late evening. I got one yesterday minutes before a severe storm hit. Quote

AndyTN Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I never give up on bass, but I do switch to almost exclusively night fishing for any serious outing. 1 Quote
MultiSpeciesFisherman Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 White bass and catfish. There are different lakes I go to for each. Mainly I target big blue catfish at a nuclear plant cooling lake near me, so needless to say it can get downright unpleasant out there in the heat of the summer. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2012 Nothing quite like sitting under the stars on the river on a humid night with a campfire going listening to the coyotes and waiting for a big blue or flathead to make a bait clicker scream uncle Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 The only time in the year when I don't target bass is when I cast out and the lure skids across the ice - then I take a break from bass fishing. Although, I admit that in summer, when the bite from the bank slows down, that I usually have an ultralight rod in the car to catch whatever will bite... 1 Quote
Diggy Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 snakeheads and salt water fishies(if I get invited on a boat) Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I fish for bass throughout the summer...the only other fish to go for in my neck of the woods are panfish and that does not excite me. Part of the fun is learning to fish and catch them in the different phases of the season. It is quite the challenge, but that keeps it exciting for me. Quote
Greed Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I keep on fishing for Bass but I pretty much fish at night like some of the othe posters have mentioned. Quote
200racing Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 the lakes around here are miserable on summer weekend daylight hours between the heat and the traffic and drunks. i go during daylight some during the week. no way around it the LM bite is just slow this time of year. current seems to over come that so i fish alot below dams and in creeks. mainly i night fish around lights and catch all kinds of fish. i also put out jugs for catfish. i go wade fish a freezing cold stocked trout stream. youll get goose bumps in 100deg heat. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 The only thing I slow down on is the amount of summer tournaments I fish. I use to do a LOT of saltwater fishing in the summer until I sold the boat. I'm tempted to take the bass boat for some snapper. I hear the big Mangorves (4-6 pounds) are moving in to the shallow reefs. Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Back in the old days, no. I'd be bass fishing in the dead of Summer, and in the middle of Winter, and every once in a while, I'd stick a big one in some of those "off times" too. But after quite a few years of that, and as I get older, I feel like I don't have as much time left to burn like that. Nowadays, I fish at the best times, at the best places, which my years of experience have shown me. Also, I have really gotten back to my roots, as a multi-species angler. I honestly don't care very much what the species is I'm targeting. I do still always try for the big ones though. A trophy sportfish, is a trophy sportfish regardless of the species. Then again, as I have gotten my health back in the last few years, it had better be a good bite for something, or else I can / will go for a few months with no fishing at all ! Don't get me wrong, I'd rather not. But if I don't know of a hot bite for something, I'd rather be mountain biking, hill climbing, weight lifting, photography, etc. With the more years that go by, the more use I try to get out of my days....... Peace, Fish Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 At my tender age of only 66 I still fish every day. My bass fishing time is greatly reduced from June until Mid November. I'll get out once in awhile just to do something in the afternoon around my home, it isn't the heat that bothers me, it's the bugs and lack of quality fish. My challenge in fishing is in the winter, the saltwater bite really tapers off then, I still do it everyday year round. That's the time of year I appreciate bass fishing, I don't get skunked. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 No, I fish for bass from the time the mother nature takes the cover off the lake in March or April, till she puts it back on in December. Then I walk on it, and fish for bluegills till next spring. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 I think I am gonna start going for stripers now that I can't seem to catch a LMB for the life of me with all this heat Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 7, 2012 Super User Posted July 7, 2012 I usually go after bass no matter what time of year it is. Quote
