AR21angler Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 well i started fishing for bass about 4 years ago and every year i would tell my self i am going to catch a pig, now do note that i am a bank fisherman so its no easy task hooking into big ones my personal best up until now was 3 and half pounds, recently though i started wading and also got access to a old private lake that is known to hold hawgs, well even their it was no easy task but atleast i knew i had a better chance, so after fishing their about 10 times this last month i caught a bunch of 2 pounders and 1 poundesr and that 3 and half pounder, well i decided to make a trip there yesterday at abot 10 in the morning, and after catching several small ones i hooked into this pig my scale read about 6 pounds, its a cheap 5 dollar berkley scale but the fish was really long, but skinny i took a couple of pictures and released her to get bigger, now i am ready for that 10 pounder, lol Quote

I have the $5 Berkley scale too. I got tired of people telling me that my bass wasn't the weight I thought it was. Now they can't argue with me. Congrats! If I can break my personal best this year, it's getting mounted! Please don't mount it. Take a pic and measure the length and girth. The "mounted" bass you get back will last longer and the real bass will still get to live. There's an eight pounder I caught back in the first week or two of January. Some one else came behind and caught one the same size (not sure if it's same one) they took it to be mounted. I put mine back so it could get bigger and either me or someone else could catch it again. The other person basically senselessly killed a good fish. Quote

As few as good LM are in Central OK, anything over 5 pounds is a monster so putting it back would be cool. Quote
logan9209 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Oh good. Didn't mean to sound snotty or anything, but there was a guy a few years ago pulled 25 bass from my lake and left them to rot on some guys porch w/o letting him know. He got in serious trouble from the landlord and the game warden, but stuff like that really irritates me. If you eat them then that's fine. But to mount them would be the same as killing deer just for the horns and leaving the carcass on the side of the road (used to happen a lot near my parents' land). Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 Nice fish man I am still waiting on my 10 pounder Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2012 Nice fish, looks like it could go 6 for sure! Give her a few years with the right conditions and she just might come back to visit you when she's a DD to say thanks for putting her back Quote
greyleg33 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Shortfish--Not only can someone else catch it but more importantly you've put the genes back in the water. Quote
