dale.m Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Tonight, my buddy who doesn't bass fish anymore gave me an old baitcaster of his that he said he wouldn't use anymore. He gave me an Shimano Citica CL200. I'm an Abu Garcia guy, so I don't really know much about Shimano products. Is this a decent reel? The reel also feels like it has some sand somewhere in the gearbox or spool. I've cleaned it up some, but I'm afraid I will have to open more of it up to clean it thoroughly. Is it worth it to do this? Thanks for your opinions guys! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 Yea it's junk, just send it to me and stick with the Abu's LOL. Quote
dale.m Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 I'm trying to figure out what the gear ratio is but I can't find any info on it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 6, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 6, 2012 If it's a 200 it should be 6.2:1 I believe. It's a pretty solid reel, especially to have someone just give to you. Send it to one of the guys on here and have it professionally cleaned, probably cost 30, maybe 40 bucks if it needs more than just a cleaning and you'll have a $100 reel for less than half price and working better than new. Super User LgMouthGambler Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 I used to have 1, sold it to a guy on here. Great reel, its a classic Shimano. Get it cleaned up by DVT, maybe a tune up, it should be good to go. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 If it's a 200 it should be 6.2:1 I think ALL the older Citica's before the D series were 5.1:1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 That's a classic workhorse reel that's well worth cleaning up and fishing. Quote
dave Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I have two that I switched the bushings for bearings. One of my favorite all time reels. I'll never sell them. Quote
