Tonight, my buddy who doesn't bass fish anymore gave me an old baitcaster of his that he said he wouldn't use anymore. He gave me an Shimano Citica CL200. I'm an Abu Garcia guy, so I don't really know much about Shimano products. Is this a decent reel? The reel also feels like it has some sand somewhere in the gearbox or spool. I've cleaned it up some, but I'm afraid I will have to open more of it up to clean it thoroughly. Is it worth it to do this? Thanks for your opinions guys!

I'm trying to figure out what the gear ratio is but I can't find any info on it.

If it's a 200 it should be 6.2:1 I believe. It's a pretty solid reel, especially to have someone just give to you. Send it to one of the guys on here and have it professionally cleaned, probably cost 30, maybe 40 bucks if it needs more than just a cleaning and you'll have a $100 reel for less than half price and working better than new.

I used to have 1, sold it to a guy on here. Great reel, its a classic Shimano. Get it cleaned up by DVT, maybe a tune up, it should be good to go.

I think ALL the older Citica's before the D series were 5.1:1

I have two that I switched the bushings for bearings. One of my favorite all time reels. I'll never sell them.
