bassman1997 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Hello, I fish in a very small pond that's about 3.5 foot deep at the most, and I know there are alot of bass and brim in it, but I think there may be some carps as well. The reason I say this is, sometimes, I will see a very big bubble line about 4 inches wide and anywhere from 1.5 to 3 foot long, then a wake, followed by a big swirl. I also hear a pop/slurpish sort of noise and see a ripple like a fish feeding. I haven't seen a carp in here before, as the water is somewhat dirty, but that doesn't mean they're not there. Could it just be a big bass speeding away to eat a fish, or a carp being spooked? Please let me know! Thanks Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 bubbles usually equal turtles by the sounds of it a big one Quote
bassman1997 Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 idk if it is a turtle i mean theres some in there and a snapper but it just looks like whatever is making the bubbles, wake, and swirl is fast swimming Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 bubbles could be the turtle and the swirl is a bass getting spooked booking outa there Quote
Mad Fisherman Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I would think it is a carp. I fish for carp a lot and that sounds like a carp to me. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 I don't think fish make bubbles though how would they they don't breath air or have lungs. yes a goldfish will release bubbles when getting flakes from the surface but its just a few so same could be said about a carp but I don't think any fish could make a streak of bubbles like that i mean if fish made bubbles the water would always look like a Jacuzzi from all the bubbles coming up from all the fish. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 4, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 4, 2012 Carp will leave a bubble trail when they stir up vegetation that has trapped gas bubbles coming from the bottom of the lake. It could be a big softshell turtle, they swim surprisingly fast and will leave a bubble trail just like a snapper. If I was guessing I'd guess a carp or maybe a big catfish. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 5, 2012 Super User Posted July 5, 2012 I'm saying it's a Carp I have a few of em in my pond Quote

bassman1997 Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 I'm going to throw some bread in today, I'm going fishing there in just a little while when it cools off. I'll be sure to let yall know what I can find out!! Also, if it helps, there used to be alot of algea, I mean, 7/8th of the pond's surfaces was just algea, and the next day I went there, less that 1/3 was algea... Quote
