A while back there was a thread about what everyone did to prepare for a trip and what you did when you got back home.

I was wondering what everyone did when they get back...

Keeping in mind I'm a co angler who fishes 2 tournaments a month and have to carry everything with me.

The first thing I do before I walk in the house is....

1] Rinse off all rod's, handles and life jacket

2] Rince all hard baits used during the day, dry and put back in thier box

3] Wipe down all reels with hot water

4] Check all guides for nick's with a Q tip dipped in line and lure

5] Check 2 rod lengths of line for knick's

6] Spray line and lure on the spooled line

7] Throw out all used plastic's, pieces of cut line etc.

8] Pre rig all rods for what I plan on bringing on my next trip.

9] Yell...Hi honey I'm home!!

What do you do?

i just walk in and try to give my wife a kiss but shes learned not to cuz it was always followed by smell my hands as i tried to pin her down to smell my fishy hands. I dont rinse wash or check any thing it either gets left in the car or set in its corner till next outing.

I take my plastics bags inside so they don't melt lol and leave everything else in the boat, I only clean my rods once a month and I check lines for Knicks before I throw it so if I have I retie it happens on the water for me. And hard baits just dry out on the boat I replace the hooks often though so I don't take extra care, as well as rings. And plastic take a few seconds to re rig so I don't really change them either.

Take a nap...........

My pre fishing prep is more important to me. I fish 7 days a week, check the weather, tides, then decide on my target species and location, it's different most days. The last thing I do before leaving my home is select my combos, usually no more 3, all my lures are in my car.

Put my reel covers and rod socks on before I leave the lake, then I hang my rods up when I get home. I have a bunch of bicycle hooks screwed into the ceiling in the garage that I hang my rods on so they aren't getting knocked over or stepped on. That's the only ritual I have that I do every trip. I organize my stuff and clean my rods and reels off once in awhile but my wife isn't going to stand around and watch my clean all my gear off after I've been fishing all day :laugh5:

Take stuff into the house, have dinner, and relax. I will go thru my stuff to straighten it out when I have an idea of where I am going next, I am a co-angler also so I change what I carry around depending on spots.

My way of doing things is simple, when I get home I put my tackle bag away and then I take my rods, back the drag off the reels and then put them in the rack and I'm done. The next day I go through my bag and reorganize the stuff I just threw in the bag and then replace hooks on baits that the hooks broke or bent, I throw away any plastics that are tore up and can't be used and then I''m pretty much good to go.

I always remove all reels from their rods. Back off all drags, wipe down both rods and reels with INOX, put rods in racks, reels on a drying shelf. Lures get rinsed if used in salty water and put a drying shelf.

Before fishing. Drink lots of coffee. This is the most important step.

After fishing. Put everything back, plug in battery charger.

Serious maintainance (reel cleaning/oil, line swap, lure repair, boat work, etc.) takes place during the winter or as needed.

1. Remove stick jackets and reel covers.

2. Treat line with KVD Line and Lure

3. Re arrange my soft plastics i made a mess out of.

4. Re arrange my hard baits i made a mess out of.

5. Play with my frogs

6. Go to bed do it again in the am.

Put the boat in the garage. Take a shower. Eat. Watch tv. IN THAT ORDER ONLY.
