hawghunter00 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I have just sold a bunch of older stuff tht i dont use anymre and im looking to buy a new reel. I will be using it for jigs/ t rigs on a 7 ft mh f rod. In my opinion there are so many good reels for 100 dollars i think it s hard to go wrong i just cant seem to decide on one. I used to have a citica and i loved it but i dont know if the new ones are as good as the one i had 5 years ago? Plus it is a little more than i want to spend. Here are my choices so far. Lews speed spool Abu garcia revo s Bassproshop pro qualifier Citica if i can find one on ebay or somewhere for 100. What do you guys say? Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 I bought the PQ here off the forums. I have yet to use it as its still in transit, but there were over 600 reviews on bass pro's website. 99% 5 stars. I have messed it with alot at Bass Pro and it feels super smooth. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 4, 2012 Global Moderator Posted July 4, 2012 Of your choices I have a Revo S and a PQ. Don't know if it matters to you but the PQ has both cent and mag brakes whereas the Revo S has just the cent. If it does the PQ is one heck of a reel for the money. The Revo holds more line 145 vs 120 [12lb] and has 24lbs of drag vs 10lbs For overall smoothness and casting distance to me the Revo S wins. I'm gonna buy another reel soon and debating between another S [tried a friends SX and didn't like it] and a Lews. Mike Quote
BASSHUNTER1961 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I recently purchased a PQ and love it...... As a matter of fact, I'm running over to BPS in a bit to buy another one. It is smooth as butter, and casts like a dream. I'm throwing Senko's, Frogs, and Weightless Worms with it. I doubt you will find better at that price point! I'm almost certain it's a Lew's SS in disguise. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 Which one is a Shimano? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 Lews speed Spool, the Abu Garcia Revo S, the Shimano Citica, Quantum Kinetic PT, or the BPS Pro Qualifier, those are you best bets in the $100 to $130 range. Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 Get yourself a Curado E somewhere. 1 Quote
BradH Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Of the reels you listed I have a Citica and a Revo S. The Revo S is $99 all over the place now and would get my vote. You can't go wrong with the Citica either. I have never fished with the other reels. Quote
