Super User iabass8 Posted July 4, 2012 Super User Posted July 4, 2012 I saw these a few days ago too. So disappointed that they went away from cork and the grip on their spinning rods. I really dislike the ""no fore grip" trend spinning rods are going. I hope these dont have the same grip as the rage series. Boooooo. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 5, 2012 Super User Posted July 5, 2012 If you want to stay with cork and traditonal grip, I recently received a LES70MF from St. Croix as a replacement for one of their original Legend Elite Series. The rod is "state of the art". Mine is the LES 70MF. http://www.stcroixrods.com/product/freshwater-legend-elite Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I'm glad you posted this. I've been looking at buying a Legend Extreme but I think I will wait until the 2013's come out I like the spinning grip on that rod more I do believe. Now I just have to wait to see one and "feel"it. Quote

If so have you noticed much difference in sensitivity between those and the Legend Elite? I currently have the LTB70MF and love it. Someone told me unless I am fishing water deeper than 25-30ft there wont be much difference in sensitivity. ------------------------ @iabass8.. This is what they said on their Facebook page about cork. For those who are wondering, this is a new line of rods for 2013. We do NOT plan on getting rid of cork, we're just expanding our variety in which we offer. We''ll certainly continue to use cork for many years to come. https://www.facebook...al_comments=116 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 6, 2012 Super User Posted July 6, 2012 No, I have not fished the LTB. Quote

This is what they said on their Facebook page about cork. https://www.facebook...al_comments=116 whew i've also used (and still use) the LTB and Xtreme (Same blank as the elite) and while the sensitivity isn't as drastic as going from say an Avid to an Xtreme, the Xtremes are still more sensitive than the LTB. That being said, if I wasn't able to afford an Xtreme/elite and only a LTB, I wouldn't be the slightest bit disappointed. It's a great line of rods. Quote
Clint C. Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Great! Thanks for the info. I usually pick one new "good quality" rod and reel to add to my arsenal each year. I may just stick with the LTB's to save some $$$ Quote

I may just stick with the LTB's to save some $$$ I would say stick to LTB as well. I have 7'6" MF Elite and to me there is not $140 difference from my 8' ML Avid. It might be due do the lighter power of the Avid. I fish mostly senkos on both and the Avid I feel more in contact with the weight of the senko and notice more of the senko wobble than with the more powerful M Elite (use powerpro 10# on both). I only paid $130 for the Elite had I paid full price I think I would have buyers remorse. 1 Quote
