tmier Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The motor has full range of motion to the right, although it feels very sticky and moans pretty loud. At dead center, the wheel turns 1/3 of a rotation to the left and stops. At this point I noticed a few inches of the steering rod isn't going into the tilt tube. I disconnected the control arm from the steering rod and the motor has full range of motion to both sides. I disconnected the cable from the tilt tube and pulled it back. It's obvious a portion of the cable doesn't go into the rod. It's probably full of grease and dirt. I know the rod and cable come together if buying new but can they be separated so I can clean out the rod and reinstall everything? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 3, 2012 Super User Posted July 3, 2012 The cable can be lubed by a tech at a shop or you can build your own cable luber. If you go to American Anglers web site and do a search there is a full explanation of how to build it with pics. Quote
tmier Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 Putting lube in the cable wouldn't clean out the old grease that may be caught in there. Unless I can separate the steering rod from the cable. Quote
