Super User clayton86 Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 I know there's a lot of guys who use braid for everything and some who are 50/50 with it. Who uses it with spinners or would flouro or mono be a better choice. What knot do you use if you use braid on a spinner I usually use a palomar knot on everything besides spinners where I use a improved cinch knot but they tend to slip with braid iv found. Im gonna be throwing it on a 6'9"MHF veritas with a revo s. I got bored on shift and had nothing but BPS catalogs and put together a big long list of rod and reel combos and wish list of baits and tackle lol. 1 rod and reel combo a month till im home and i'll be all set haha im going all veritas and revo's I already have 1 revo/veritas combo and love it. Super User Wayne P. Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 I use 50# Spiderwire Stealth. I prefer the stiffness it has over the more flexible brands. Easier to un-do a semi-professional over-run. Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, and buzz baits. I use the Uni-knot. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I have several reels with it and have uet to decide whether or not I like it I use 50 lb PP. However i also use a mono leader. The leader is joined with a modified albright and then mono to spinner with improved clinch. However if I do go with the just the braid I use a palomer knot. It has never let me down. Quote
NoBassPro Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I use it with spinners. I guess the primary pro to it is you really feel the fish smack the bait, the downside is I lose more baits to pike using braid than anything else. Anymore, I am rarely pulling baits through trees or anything like that, so if you are doing those things alot I think the abrasion resistance might also be a con, but for weeds its great. Never have a problem with hook-ups, either. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I tried it and went back to my old reliable 17lb mono for spinnerbaits. Maybe it is me, but I have better accuracy with mono. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted July 3, 2012 Super User Posted July 3, 2012 A light braid like 30# Spiderwire would be good for spinnerbaits. I wouldnt go any bigger than that. My next setup will be a Chronarch 50E with 30# Spiderwire for those spinnerbaits. Quote
james 14 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I use 50lb PP on spinnerbaits unless I'm in really clear water...then I'll tie on a leader. I use a palomar knot. Never have problems losing fish or missing strikes. Quote
A-Rob Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I stick to 15# mono for spinnerbaits I fish it for smallies and largies. I like the shock absorption on mono (the rare time I like the stretch) Quote
