Sam Fisher Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Back in the day Blue lagoon was one of the best spots I've fished for peacock. Maby next weekend I'll poke around miami for some peacock....... How's Miami now do I need to bring my m249 with me Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 matter of fact I went down there this a.m. I only managed 1 peacock on top water and 1LM on a yozuri. Caught a few bluegills and cichlids as well. The area looked promising but . I also did a lot of exploring since it was my first time on this particular water system. Sending pm now. Quote

Shane Procell Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 I don't think your going to find any Peacock north of Palm Beach County. Quote
Diggy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 griffin canal and the connecting waterways seem to always have them from around university to flamingo Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Capt. Shane is right, NO peacocks north of palm beach county. The winters are just to cold for them to survive any farther. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 Wish I could tell you where to launch the boat, Shane. I do all of my Peacock fishing at the house. No way you'll get the Gheenoe in it without getting a visit from the cops. There are mating pairs swimming around with balls of fry all over the place right now. Had another spawn this year not long ago I'd guess. Blue Lagoon is about the best spot I know. You may try looking down in the Falls area way down south. Not sure if there are many ramps to use down there though. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 ANyone know where I can catch some peacock bass in or around Jacksonville? A local aquarium. No way they'd survive in the wild up there. Hell, they die north of Broward if it gets too cold. That arctic blast we had a few years ago really hurt the Peacocks up in WPB. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 Up until the freeze 2 years ago I had peacocks all over the place, this year I've caught only 1 in my area and it was tiny. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted July 2, 2012 Super User Posted July 2, 2012 Looks like ima have to take a trip south to do some peacock bass fishing Anyone willing to make a trip or show me some spots let me kno message or quote me Quote

Shane i would go the C100 (falls canal) if i were you. Altough i heard the water was running through all the canals down south after the rains. Might have stopped moving water now. Quote
IneedToReadTheForumPolicies-a3 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The peacock bass are thriving in South Florida, primarily Miami-Dade and Broward Counties...We've caught a few in southern Palm Beach, but nothing close to what we've caught further south...After the cold fronts a few years back, the population diminished but because of the last two rather warm winters, the peacocks have reproduced and begun showing up in just about every lake and canal system. I'm new to this forum and wanted to share pics, but it keeps telling me that the files are too big...Any suggestions of how I can post pics for you all to view? Enjoy... Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 27, 2012 Super User Posted July 27, 2012 You can post a link from a site like photobucket after you have published it there, also reducing the size of the pic will allow you to attach a file, this is an easy site for reducing. http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 28, 2012 Super User Posted July 28, 2012 Simply put, the hotter the better for Peacocks. Just sucks to be fishing for an extended time in this heat. They're out and schooled up on my lake in Broward. Great fun for the kids with a bucket of shiners. You can go through a dozen of them in about 10 minutes right now. Quote
