Hey everyone I'm looking for a new casting rod preferably under 150 bucks, but the problem is that it has to be from Dick's Sporting Goods because im returning an unopened deer target for a new rod and dont have the receipt so it has to be and in-store credit. Dick's doesnt have a huge selection in rods so no Bucoo, no Powell, and no Duckett but they do have the Smoke rod, the Veritas, the Skeet Reese, and the Carrot Stix wild along with a few other. I currently have a Duckett micro magic 7'3 medium heavy with a Shimano Chronarch that i use for jigs, frogs, and other heavy cover lures so the new setup I will use for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. I will probably pair it up with a Skeet Reese Victory reel or maybe even a Smoke that i found on Ebay for 137$.

So any info or your experiences with these rods will help!

Thanks-Jett

My Dick's Sporting Goods store also carries St. Croix. Don't know if they have any Avids in that range, but they do have the Triumps and Mojos, but for some reason I can't take a liking for the looks of either of these rods. However, I do like the looks of the Premier series. A friend used a MH Premier as his only rod for a couple years, and still uses it a lot even though he has added an Avid.

Smoke rod would pair-up with the Smoke reel you wanting.

Have/had the Smoke, Veritas, Premier- the Smoke is the lightest more balanced & sensitive rod in 7'MF cant comment on the others mentioned. Smoke now have crankbait models but havent tried them. My MF Smoke rod is very close to my ML Avid in sensitivity. I returned the veritas and would have returned the premier but scored the premier for just $23 at DSG.

Thank you everybody! Sounds like the veritas is the favorite. What are yalls thoughts on the Skeet Reese Victory reel?

The skeet reels are not bad my friend has 3 and loves em nice oversize handle you just have to oil them before you take em out his we're dry when he got them once oiled they are smooth an quiet. And I use the skeet cranking rod and am very happy with it , the other odd though seem to break a lot. And the veritas I an amazing rod for the price I have 3 and love them

Another reel that seems pretty nice for the money is the Citica. Any experiences on that?

Might be the favorite but not the better rod.
