WookieeJedi Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I'll go with a hunting story. Try climbing into your deer stand that is 20' off the ground, about an hour before daylight, sit down, it's completely silent, and pitch black, and wait for it........... a screech owl perched about 3' away from your head starts screaming!!!! Great time to have a safety harness on. The first time I took my oldest girl out (she was 5), we had one cut loose right behind the blind. It was dark, and I thought that was going to be it for her. But she was just like, "What was that?" "Screech Owl." "Oh." She went to sleep 10 minutes later. Quote
Big-O Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 A buddy(Jerry) and I were fishing Lake Jackson Tallahassee Fla back in the early 70's and we were in a 12 ft jon boat. There is a 10' huge culvert under the highway that connects another smaller body of water to the lake and we would often slide the boat through to fish there. On one particular night as we approached the culvert opening, we were about 10 ft away and Jerry said "Hey Big O, I think someone is laying in the bottom of the culvert and they're not moving" :0 I said shine the light up in there and ck it out! He reached down in the bottom of the boat to grab a flashlight making a loud rattling noise. When he did... that someone must have woke up because a huge ruckus erupted and mud and water was flying everywhere in the dark, and the noise from that tunnel was deafening. I could see the silouette of that SOMEONE slinging around in the tunnel and they were getting bigger and bigger as they got colser to the mouth of the culvert. By then, I had my trusty 5 horse Eska motor fired up, in reverse and pouring the gas to her but it wasn't fast enough for Jerry... he wound up in the back of the boat with me just as the that HUGE SOMEONE crashed the front corner of my little aluminum boat pitching us to the side quickly and almost throwing Jerry out! As quickly as the Crazy thrashing started, it was over but so was our night of fishing because Jerry refused to stay on the water any longer And all of this just because someone was laying in the bottom of the culvert. That SOMEONE ruined a good night of fishing for me Quote
