psuangler91 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I want to start using trailer hooks on my spinner baits but I'm not sure what size to use. I plan on going with either a 2 or 3 ought Quote
james 14 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Strike King makes a trailer hook that comes with black shrink wrapping over the eye to hold it in place. It's a 2/0 size as are most trailer hooks and they come in a 4-pack. Good move going to the trailer hook. I even use these on my buzzfrogs. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 26, 2012 Super User Posted June 26, 2012 You typically match the size trailer hook to the size bait and the hook that bait uses. For example if you are fishing a 3/8oz bait it probably has a 3/0 or 4/0 hook so you would use a 3/0 or 4/0 trailer hook. If you are using a trailer around a lot of cover you can down size a little but no more than 1 size smaller. Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 26, 2012 Super User Posted June 26, 2012 I use a 2/0 with my buzzbaits and 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits, but it's hard for me to see a significant difference between 2/0 and 3/0. Quote
