Super User bilgerat Posted January 13, 2010 Super User Posted January 13, 2010 Are they one and the same as Bomber ? One of the Dick's in my area has a bunch red tagged @ $2.97 ea. Mostly the Fat Free Guppy model. I've been grabbing a few a week. Are they a decent bait ? They seem to be pretty well made, could use a hook upgrade though. Any thoughts ? Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 13, 2010 Super User Posted January 13, 2010 Don't know the Guppy, but I've done well others -a Fat Free med runner and the deep runner. Tackle Tour rated the deep runner (now made by Bomber instead of Excalibur) #3 behind the Lucky Craft and Norman DD22. Quote
Super User Marty Posted January 14, 2010 Super User Posted January 14, 2010 If the lure name is the same, then the lure itself is the same. For example, a Bomber Fat Free is the same as Excalibur Fat Free and a Heddon Swim'n Image is the same lure as the Excalibur of the same name. Often when you see these baits at these attractive prices, it is a promotion using non-standard colors. But with me not placing huge importance on color, I think these are excellent buys. You're talking about $5-6 lures selling for $2-3. Quote
s13john Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 id wait a while dicks usually runs them on sale 2 for 4 bux. they ran that a coupple of times last year. add that with a 10 off 50 coupon youve got a real deal. Quote

I've already modified a few, mostly silencing the rattles. One of my techniques to work on improving this season is cranks and this is a cheap way to do it. Quote
Shimmer Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I love my Excaliburs. Every time my buddy comes fishing with me he asks for one and will just SLAY them all day long. Quote
Primus Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I like the old Exclibur Fat Free baits with the advantage finish especially the small Fry cranks. I only have a couple left of the one with the dark back, white belly with clear sides that have a silver reflective insert. This has been a very productive crank for me. Quote
krisjack69 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I have a excalibur bill dance fat free shad and I love the color I just have one of them and they dont make that color any more so I'm scared of using it cause I might lose it. Quote
