whats the deal with Lucky Craft? Are they really SO much better? ive fished with them, and besides being super detailed, which i dont think the fish see when the bait swims by through water, they dont seem that special. but then again i dont know that much about em.

Quality baits that catch fish.  Quality finishes, quality hardware.

Are they overpriced?  That isn't for me to decide.

I don't think it is the actual look that makes them expensive, I think it is the action and vibration that LC has in its corner that makes their product so effective, making it costly. I am a fan of LC and own a bunch.

Lucky Craft products are High Quality.  I too had a difficult time justifying the high prices but put it into perspective. Tubes sell 10 for four bucks.  Add the jig heads and your at 65 cents apiece and expect to go through a bunch where I fish. I consider them and any plastics a consumable.  Like toilet paper....you use it up and it's gone.  Hard baits can last a long time if you don't break them off and the cost of fish per bait is much less than a consumable plastics so get quality get quality up front.

I love the Pointers and RC's. Bass Pro has $10 sales on the RC's a few times a year so I stock up then. Also, Cabelas will often have LC's at a clearance price. They are not usually the colors you want, but you can customize them. I got 3 different sizes of pointers a couple of weeks ago for $24. I am gonna put some chartreuse on 'em.

Lucky Craft is a very good lure. But they shouldn't be the only brand you have. I use them most of the time. But there are times when a LC will not do what I need it to do. For instance, if I am fishing open water and it is 2- 3' visibility and the bass are feeding on schools of shad, a slow-retrieved Shad Rap No7 is a far better choice for me. Also, the last few times out, I have found the Strike King series 5 came through nasty cover better than the RC's. Also, the deepest diving LC crankbait does not go as deep as the DD22's. Just some thoughts for ya.

The LC Flat CB D20 will get deeper than the DD22.

I think the Pointers are in a class all by themselves, probably one of the best baits ever. My expierence with the rest has been pretty average.

i'm with angler one, it's not so much the finish as it is the action of their baits. time and research making these baits move just right is what youre paying for

When they are on sale I'll buy them.

x2 I don't think I've ever paid full retail for one. Except for the Kelly J that bait was just so sexy I had to get it.

Yep. Compare the cost/fish of a LC jerkbait to a senko and you will realise that the LC is a very economical bait. I have a LC Slender Pointer that has caught me well over 50 SM by now. How many senkos/tubes/flukes would I have gone through to catch those bass?

Russ said it well. I will use the LC jerks, very little else from them. If you get the urge to splurge on a Sammy, by yourself 2 spooks instead.

my take on lc or any other premium manufacturer is simplly this: you get what you pay for. there is a good reason why that bait is 10$ or more than a similar model from a competitive company. its quality, simply that and nothing more. its rare to here about cheap hooks, broken bills, and out of tune baits with crappy finishes. just my 2 worthless cents.

Not all Lucky Craft stuff is great. Pointers and Sammy's are the ones I think are great. I have seen guys say X-Raps are just as good, but they are not. X-Raps have a problem with the ball getting stuck in the  tail section causing it to stand vertically in the water. The average fisherman doesnt know this.. once I found this out, I sold all my X-Raps. Japanese stuff is high quality..they take Bass fishing extremely seriously.

My honest opinion of LC is they're the best baits on the market, especially the Pointer and Sammy.  Maybe it's just because I have so much confidence when I fish these baits, I might be biased here.  The finish is unbelievable, but like most have already said, you are paying high dollar for their action in the water.  Now I'm not saying the LC is the end all, be all of hard baits.  I own plenty of Bomber, Bandit, and Strike King hard baits and they all catch fish.  But for certain applications, for me its jerkbait and topwater, I'll always go with a LC.
