I recently watched a video on YouTube done by CouchsCampers that had Mike Iaconelli doing a seminar. In this particular one (part 3), Ike was talking about using a Gulp! Wacky Crawler wacky rigged on a drop shot rig. I looked it up on BPS and *** and they do have them. But apparently Berkley isn't producing them any more. Which sucks because I was hoping that either wally world or my local bait shop might have them. So the question is would a trick worm like Zoom's 6" Trick Worm have the same effect? I know it wouldn't have the same scent, but I can apply that myself. But, bass primarily uses sight and sound, then smell, right? I'd appreciate any insight. I'm not wanting to buy a bunch of them (which what it would take to justify paying shipping) when I might be able to use what I've already got.

A Zoom Trick Worm will not only work, but probably outfish the Gulp Wacky Crawler.

I have to admit that the problem I have with Gulp is that all of their stuff smells the same. Which translates into more catfish and less anything else. I got a jar of Gulp! Earthworms a few months back and was trying to fish for sunfish (bream). I caught a 5# catfish. No hits from the bream though. I said caught, technically I did get him to the bank but once there he snapped my little hook off my 4lb line. Fine with me, heck I didn't want him anyways.

Haven't heard of the swamp crawler. I will have to research that. Thanks guitarkid. :)

X2 - Zoom will have much better action in the water. Gulp is too stiff for my liking.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think I agree with you. I picked up one of my "trophy" trick worms and it was so limber.

Definitely give zoom a try. I love wacky rigging them on a drop shot. I,personally, dont like gulp. The smell is awful and it just doesnt seem to outfish trick worms or flukes in the rivers i frequent.

I took a look at the Gulp! Wacky Crawlers and to be honest they look thicker than the trick worms. I am guessing the only advantage in Gulp!'s behalf is that the WC is supposedly slimy. I wonder how much Ike paid those bass to take his lures. I'm sure they have great benefits. They get a cozy tank that probably stayed nice and comfortable temperature wise. LOL!

Right now it's staying in the low to upper 90's till 8pm or so. I know it's probably worse in the South West. We also haven't had any rain for 3 weeks or so. We didn't even get much the last time it rained. Now, it's looking like we won't get any for 2 more weeks. You best believe, I will be one fisherman in the rain (unless it's storming).

Anyways, didn't mean to side track. Thanks for the great inputs! :)

the wacky crawlers are available at tackle warehouse. The trick worm wouldn't act the same, the wacky crawler is designed to be limp so that when wacky rigged the ends of the worm have an exaggerated movement of the fall and when you lift it. The trick worm makes a good wacky bait with a wacky jig head, the ends will move on the fall but it will fall much slower than the crawler, in fact that slow fall is what makes the trick worm so good fished wacky style.

Thanks smalljaw67. In the OP I stated that Bass Pro Shop and tackle warehouse had them....for some reason though it got censored as if it was a bad word. I wonder why it did that? Anyway, I will use the trick worms, but I would still like to try the wacky crawler. Maybe Gulp! has a redeeming quality in those particular worms.
