I'm planning on replacing treble hooks on a bunch of baits to new better ones. I have heard opinions of several brands and types. I will be replacing them on topwaters, crankbaits and jerkbaits. If anyone has info ( brand, type, size, changing sizes, feathered trebles ) it would be greatly apreciated. Also alot of people talk about Owner stingers and newly people are talking about the KVD triple grips. What do you think of these???

I've tried a whole bunch, from VMCs, Gammies, Owners and Mustad. I will say that none of them have let me down.

For best bang for the buck, VMC has packs of 25 for about $5-6. They're good enough for rapalas, and they make feathered ones for replacements on xraps too. However, I think it is cheaper to dress feathers on trebles yourself.

For size, I will usually replace with the same size treble. Owners are awesome. I have not tried the KVD ones.

Owner Stingers and Gamakatsu EWG's are the two best trebles I've used.

Of the two, I think the Gamakatsu's hold better - I'm a fan of the wide-gap treble design.

The Owners are stronger.

The best treble I 've tried for cranks is Katsuage, problem is that they are not easy to find plus  >:( .... man, those things are expensive !  :o

Owners come in second ( but not far ) from those.

I was gonna give those VMC Sure Set trebles a try, they look pretty mean!

If you fish your cranks in cover - stay FAR away.   :(

Has anybody tried either the Gamakatsu ewg's or the Owner in red ? Do they cost more?

I use the Owner red hooks and like them.  Will not use a Gamakatsu, lose to many fish with them.
