hawghunter00 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Hey guys im new here but not new to bass fishing. I love fishing jigs so i want to know what line you all like to use when fihsing them yourselves? I know some use braid and some use flourocarbon. I prefer flouro and have actually never used braid before. Oh and i mean like open water fishing not pitching into heavy brush or anything. My lake has a rocky bottom with some rip rap closer to the shore so thats all i have to worry about when choosing a line. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted June 22, 2012 Super User Posted June 22, 2012 Yup. In open water around rocks its hard to beat a high quality flourocarbon. I like to use Seagaur's lines, so I'd look for some 15# AbrazX. Quote
11justin22 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I've actually used sensation for awhile with good results. It's low stretch and really sensitive. I've actually just spooled up with some seaguar flouro to see what all the buzz is about. I've been reluctant to change because their is nothing wrong with the sensation...aka if it's not broken don't fix it. Quote
BassThumb Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I prefer jig fishing with 15-17 lb. Trilene 100% fluorocarbon line. Flouro transmits slack-line bites better than any other line, so it works really well for fishing bottom-contact lures. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted June 22, 2012 Super User Posted June 22, 2012 I use 15lb Invisx, but previously used 40lb Samurai. I have since taken all the braid off my reels! Jeff Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 22, 2012 Super User Posted June 22, 2012 Although I hate braid, it has improved my jig fishing significantly. I'm using 50 lb Suffix 832. Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I mainly use 10-15lb cabelas Low vis flouro. Once I use it all up I'll have to find something else. I do use 30lb braid once in awhile when I'm fishing real heavy structure or dirty water. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I like braid and fluorocarbon. Braid in 30lbs and fluorocarbon in 15lbs. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 22, 2012 Super User Posted June 22, 2012 15 pound AbrazX 20 pound AbrazX 50 pound Suffix 832 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 23, 2012 Super User Posted June 23, 2012 20,30, or 50 lb Power Pro with 12,15, or 20 lb Seagaur Abraz-x leaders as needed. In grass, wood, or dirty water I tie straight to the braid. The Seagaur line is new to me this year, and it's far and away much better than any of the other flouro lines I have used before (Vanish, BPS XPS, and Trilene 100%) Quote
BFG79 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I love Seaguar AbrazX 15#. Definitley my favorite fluro for casting reels Quote
Jake P Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I just picked up some abrazx over the invizx that i hear so much about. Its nice to finally hear something about Abrazx. I just finished trying vicious flouro and i wasnt to pleased. It was the first flouro ive tried so i dont know if im expecting too much or the Vicious really wasnt just for me. Hopefully im happy with Abrazx. Buying Yo Zuri is cheap. Buying Flouro is NOT. Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm gonna be the first to say, I use copolymer. Quote
11justin22 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I'm gonna be the first to say, I use copolymer. Technically not..... see my above post about sensation, it's a copolymer. Quote
Senkoman12 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Yup. In open water around rocks its hard to beat a high quality flourocarbon. I like to use Seagaur's lines, so I'd look for some 15# AbrazX. x2. i use abrazx and even the red label and for $12 the red label is pretty good stuff Quote
msolorio Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 imo seaguar is junk. not knocking anyones preference but i had nothin but trouble with seaguar. sunline sniper in 14-20lb test. best fluoro i have ever, ever used. Quote
11justin22 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Quick update, I went out tonight for the first time with the flouro.....and..... WOW!!!! So so much more sensitive than anything else I've used. AND and the first trip with it I managed to land a 5 1/2 pounder. Quote
Super User deep Posted June 29, 2012 Super User Posted June 29, 2012 I love casting jigs in light/ moderate cover. 30 lb Samurai braid + leader for spinning setup, and 55 lb Samurai braid + leader for casting setup for me. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 29, 2012 Super User Posted June 29, 2012 Most of the time I use Big Game 15 lb. If I am going somewhere that I know has a lot of vegetation then I will spool on braid. Quote
