OIFBasser Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I started this post in the wrong forum, so here it is again. What Owner hooks would recommend for t-rigs, wacky, drop/split shot? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 Hopefully you're not looking for one hook for all those types of rigs, right? The best I've ever found for the Tx rig, are the Twistlocks, usually a 4/0 or 5/0. For Wacky, I forget what they call 'em, but it's a light wire, weedless hook, and I usually go with 2/0 or 3/0. As for dropshot hooks, I haven't tried one yet, but for Carolina rigs, and split shot rigs, usually an Owner Octopus circle hook in a 3/0, nose hooked baits. Quote
Jake. Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Texas Rig: http://www.***.com/descpage-O5139.html Wacky: http://www.***.com/descpage-OWNWHH.html Drop Shot: http://www.***.com/descpage-OMOS.html Quote
scaledriver Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I like the Owner mosquito hook for both wacky rigs and also drop shotting. T rigs I just use the regular ol offset worm hooks. Quote

OIFBasser Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Are Twistlocks worth it, or are they a gimmick? Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 Are Twistlocks worth it, or are they a gimmick? twistlocks are all i use now , no more ewg hooks . they hold your bait on the best of ANY hook manuf. i use the 5/0 twist lock hooks with the bigger CPS spring put on them for soft plastic frogs , big stick baits , and for flipping creature baits . i find that these work better than any other hook !!! so to answer your question , yes they are some of the best , most durable , strongest hooks out there !!!! OWNER does not make "gimmick" hooks , they only make the best !!! ...... Quote
NewKidInTown Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Are Twistlocks worth it, or are they a gimmick? DEFINITELY "NOT" a gimmick! Works extremely well, stops the worm from getting easily ripped off. Owner makes excellent stuff. Quote
NewKidInTown Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I started this post in the wrong forum, so here it is again. What Owner hooks would recommend for t-rigs, wacky, drop/split shot? I like Owner J's for T-Rig,Mosquitoes in 2/0 for Wacky, also they do make a hook specifically for "Wacky"..I have them, but haven't tried em yet. For drop Shotting I have been using Standout Hooks,,and have had good results..but I would use a Mosquito for that also in 2/0,not the tiny hooks that alot of guys use. Maybe because I don't use skinny sissy fishing baits. Zoom SUper Fluke is one of my favorite Dropshot baits. Quote
Gangley Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The twistlocks are not a gimmick. I get twice the amount of use out of my Horny Toads with the Twistlocks. I have not had an Owner hook fail on me yet and I use them almost exclusively now. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I used Owner screw lock hooks for the first time last year when I saw how well they secure some of the creature baits I pitch. They had a tendency to slide down the hook, even with the G-Lok which I really like. They are a quality hook and stick em' well. Quote
OIFBasser Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 What about the hooks that come with the new Owner palstics on TW.com Quote
