We hit summer with some pretty hot temps here in the northeast and I installed an air conditioner in the window at my home. A control knob fell behind a piece of furniture and behind it I found an envelope from B.A.S.S. I think it was a membership renewal. Inside was a promotional spool of Trilene 14 lbs mono, a promotional pack of Gulp Turtleback soft plastics, some promotional literature, the 2005 Bassmaster Classic DVD and this:

I've never seen it let alone fish it. I'm assuming it was an answer to the Chatterbait or vice versa, anyone ever fish it and what do you think?

I tried some when they first came out, and never really had any luck, I think I still have one somewhere. Someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but I think these came out before the chatterbait craze hit.

No, the pure poison is more of a chatterbait style, where this has a fixed blade fused with the jig head, more like the bill of a crankbait. Think of a scrounger head, but metal, and more horizontal, and all one piece.

I got some when they first came out and I have not had much luck on them at all

I keep a few of the 1/16 models with me whenever I'm creek and river fishing. Add a slider grub and their a dynamite numbers bait. Panfish, LM,spots, pike, you name it they bite it. They really flutter in the current quite nicely, and can be crawled over logjams and whatnot without much fear of snagging.

The larger versions havent been as good to me. Just not as natural looking I supppose. I'd imagine if you got creative with your plastic and threw them in heavy vegation they'd get bit. But theres better options in my book.

They say fish will bite anything once, but those prove that theory wrong.

LMAO

I for some reason see you getting your tacklecraft on and making something similar and posting it in the Tackle Making Forum only to have some whack job become a member for a day lambasting you for stealing her/his idea...LOL

I have one, it works, but I can't find the soft bait anywhere anymore. I've been tying on worms to it for a while now.... it's got some pretty awesome swim action, I'll tell you that!

Have used the smaller versions for pan fishing. Crappie find them delicious. If I recall, rock bass seem to like too.

They also have amazing topwater action to, you can never fish it wrong.

I haven't quite figured out how to get it on top of the water except for the last few feet of my retrieve. What are you doing to pull that off?

i'll cast it and right away i start to reel once it hits the water does that help???????

That might work with powerbait, but not the grubs or worms I've tied on. That sucker sinks fast and swims erratically!

try using a fluke instead so it won't sink to fast.

Oh by the way the grubs that they come with are called "power minnow grub"

Looks way too interesting to let it stay in the bag, I'll have to give it a whirl!

I'll use both, thanks for the tip!

Thanks for your input all!

Derrick, If I catch one on it, I'll send it up...LOL

One last tip, don't use to big of a bait, because you don't want it to over power the blade. So maybe play around with different sizes and types of bait.
