Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 20, 2012 Super User Posted June 20, 2012 Just got back from our annual trip to lake athabasca in northern saskatchewan. Pike fishing was great but the fish had not put the feedbag on yet since spawning. Ice had been out for several weeks and the spawn had been over for several weeks as well. I have never seen so many skinny pike up there since we started going up back in 1999. I'm sure they will fatten up soon. My best bait was a rapala maxrap 13 in 1/2 oz size. Very wide swinging slash bait. We also did good on storm swim baits, jensen bunny jigs & blue fox inline spinner baits. Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 21, 2012 Author Super User Posted June 21, 2012 very nice pike all bigger then my PB pike and your calling em skinny Clayton it's all about the location. Big pike up there. When I said skinny fish I meant skinny compared to normal. These fish didn't have anything in there bellies. Here is a fish from a couple of years ago that had been eating good just after spawn. Quote
