Blue Streak Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I did a search for this but did not find the information I wanted. I have used the C rig for years for certain situations, but I have never found a weight that I have been completly satisfied with. Most of my C rigging is done on rocky bottoms. What are you guys using that works well for you in that situation? Quote
whoopbazz Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 3/4 is what I like. 1/2 does not seem to stay down good enough. I would think a 1oz would be ok if your going esp deep. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 Use an egg shaped weight, heavier than you think you need! 8-) Quote
Blue Streak Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Would that be the most snagless shape for the rocky conditions? Quote
aarogb Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 3/4 to 1 oz. My favorite weights are the Tru-Tungsten weights. They are a lot smaller than lead weights and are much more sensitive. Stock up on a few because no matter where you are fishing you will lose a few. Quote
basspro96 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Get a tungsten 3/4 ounce weight. I have never used an egg sinker. I feel it gets you WAY more hang ups. I can take my 3/4 ounce tung. bullet sinker and throw it in brush with no snags. Quote
tbird Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 This is what I use in 3/8 -3/4 oz. I'm not a big fan of the barrel weights. T http://www.***.com/descpage-MLRH.html Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 10, 2010 Super User Posted January 10, 2010 I have some Lindy weights that are alot like the Mojo Rock hoppers. That's what I use. I think I found them in the walleye section at Cabelas. Quote
NBR Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I too fish very rocky lakes. I use regular bullet weights but put them on backwards to normal so they won't wedge in the rock. I use what ever weight is appropriate for the depth from 3/8 to 1 ounce. Quote
Blue Streak Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks for all of the tips and suggestions. I have tried all sorts of shapes to find something that did not snag a lot but all of them seemed to have some issues. The Lindy is a good sinker and worked better than most others, seems that all of those bent weights are better in rocks. I have even bent the old flat lead sinkers. I will certainly try that MoJo weight first trip this spring, might be the answer. I also prefer Tru Tungsten when I can use it. Maybe I am looking for the perfect sinker. I don't know. Thanks again Quote
