I really havent had much luck around central oklahoma. Ive been told I need to hit lake Eufala and Murry Lake. I live in Edmond, near OKC so those two are a bit of a drive.

I have hit the following with not much luck.

Lake Hephner

Guthrie Lake

Thunderbird Lake

Liberty Lake

Of those 4, the dams on a non windy day seem to be the only place I have had any luck at all. Never anything over 16 inches. Only thing I can get any hits on are crawfish or chartruse colored med bombers.

Anybody have any other suggestions on bass fishing around central Oklahoma? No boat yet, gotta pay for a wedding first.

Thanks

It's a tough time of year to be a bank fisherman on big lakes in OK or Arkansas where I live, it's tough even if you have a boat, and this heat wave is making it tougher. You might want to think about fishing very early in the AM or evenings/night. I like t-rigging or c-rigging big worms (Zoom Ol' Monster) in dark colors, black/blue football jigs, or creature baits and fishing them at night. You might also try a deep diving crank. What stinks about fishing off dams is the rocks are snaggy.

Thanks for the reply. I switched up to top water poppers and plastics. Been doing really well on the hybrids and an occasional LM. I bought and am stocked for Senkos now too.

Ya with this heat 6am to 8-9ish is all you can really get.

Glad to hear you're into them. Hybrids are a blast, especially on Topwaters.

Yes sir! They fight like a 1-2 pound LM when they arnt but about 10". And they hit that top water like a ton of bricks

I live near Lake Eufaula. Fishing is slow here right now but you can still catch a few with soft plastics and crankbaits around rocky points and feeder creeks. Buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwaters are fairly good in feeder creeks early and late. Mid day I look for 8 to 12 ft. of water with structure and cover. Good luck if you get a chance to fish here.

Thanks for the report there. I have been dying to get out there, but the 2 hour drive has held me off. I am waiting till we get some relief in the heat before I trek out there.

Welcome to Oklahoma.

If you you get a boat I would suggest three lakes that are a reasonable distance from you:

Arbuckle. Its probably an hour and a half from you and has a healthy population of bass. Last November our bass club tournament produced a 9 lb and a 10lb Lmb. It definitely has some big fish.

Konowa. A little over a hour away from the okc. Extremely good lake full of keeper sized bass. I would highly reccomend it in Nov through March as its a power plant lake.

Prague city lake. Small but good. Has Florida strain Lmb and caught my pb 5-14 there this year. Lots of 2 and 3 pounders with a good chance of a 5-9 lb fish

For bank fishing you might check out the department of wildlifes close to home ponds. Google there website for a list of all there ponds. However, I'd say most of them are junk for bass fishing, but a few are decent. There is one in Yukon where I regularly catch 1.5- 4 lb fish and as a matter of fact I caught a 3 lb there today. Good luck. And Boomer sooner!

Thanks for the info! I think I might try the Yukon pond Monday late afternoon. Its pretty close and I have my son this week so it may fit the bill.
