Beaver Dam Creek Reservoir http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=17

also use the site this site to look by county and find spots. Beaver d**n was closed to boat traffic a while back so it is main shore fished and kyak fished. rocky and has plenty of cover.

there is a dam down stream that can be fished, also if you are googling it there is a park nearby that has a small pond that can be fished, friends told me about it and further on the old route 7 bridge and across new route 7 there are trails. you can wade fish. Same friends told me fountain head is good too, but heavy pressure.

I have also fished some of the ponds in south riding, off the main road oppsite loudin cnty parkway at the intx with 50. the ponds back there hold sunfish and largemouth.

If you feel like traveling, you have lake brittle in gainsville/warrenton area. Travel out to the country go to W Thompson wildlife management area and fish lake thompson. or Lake Frederick, (highly recommend) You also have the shenendoah off 50 and in front Royal and not to mention the upper Potomac. I lived out in winchester and worked in chantilly so traveling 30 to 60 minutes to get to lakes was norm if not fishing the rivers.

It is on the other side. Look where wax pool dead ends to 650 by the reservoir and follow wxpool back to where it does a 90 bend. There is a ball field there and an old farm pond. I never got a chance to fish it. But the couple if buddies who grew up there said it is a pretty good spot. They also said u can park at the end of mt hope road or in the church lot and access the reservoir from that side.

Have u fished it before?

just beaverdam u cant really shore fish unless u want to be covered in ticks. but u can walk the dirt road to the dam. but the little pond u are talking about i have not fished it before but i might have to keep that in mind for later in the week adventure.

the perch at beaverdam are agressive i was catching them left n right off my swim bait. but its worth going there u get a chance to get away from all the traffic n noise thats in the area

About a quarter mile down that road from the parking just before the power lines to the right is a cove with reeds, u can fish a big rock at the back of the cove or if you pass it right to the right there are paths through the woods, you can pop out on rocks above and that cove is reedy and rocky lots of cover. The paths with take you out to a main point and you can follow the shore around to another cove that is flatter and shallower. good fishing all through out there. I have also been out to the dam too, it is a hike but good fishing, depends on where the water level is and where the fish are holding though.

get some off and you won't have to worry about the ticks LOL

It is a nice quiet area.

You ever fish lake Frederick? It is off 340 and 66 near front royal. That place is nice, u can get war mouth 8-10 inches, and hit a slab of crappie too in addition to bass. That is my fav lake up in va but beaver is nice too.

I just fished beaver dam today got there not expecting such good cover so of course i wade fished lol didn't bring extra clothes though so i have to ride home in my boxers lol! didn't catch anything had some real good hits but i was using a new rod and wasn't quite use to it so once i get the hang of the rod and reel ill be set to go back. i think it will be a weekly stop for me!

You guys should seriously type in NOVA into the search function and read all the old NOVA threads..... tons of good info in there.

Good to have some NOVA guys talking, been a little quiet on that front lately with only a few of us posting.

I heard the same thing about that pond, so I checked it out a few months ago and it now has a no trespassing sign. Just FYI.

That sucks I thought it was part of that park. You see that a lot up in Chantily, here in jax very rarely are there "no fishing" signs posted. But in all honesty I have been to a ton of places, the rte 50 boat ramp, lake Frederick etc that have been absolutely trashed.

you can still get boats in beaverdam if you do it right. you wont be able to back a trailer with a bass boat into the water though. ive seen people carry john boats in and out of there, canoes, inflatable rafts, etc. but its no gas engine, electric only.

i still like to remember the days when beaverdam was much more accessible and there were lots of good shore fishing spots back when i was a kid. now its where i really dont even want to go back there without a boat. I really wish Loudoun and Fairfax counties would come together and reach a compromise about cleaning beaverdam up a bit, though i know some would disagree and treat it like its a hidden gem and they dont want a ton of people there fishing, so they like it the way it is...

Occoquan reservoir people! That place has been on fire for two months now. Point bite is in full gear. Don't take my word for it, go fish it!!

I have never heard of lake Frederick. I'll have to keep that lake in mind and venture out there some point. I just started bass fishing pretty much this year. So its new to me.. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated just pm me. But does lake Frederick have boat rentals and is it have high pressured?

Personally, I don't even consider recommending Lake Frederick anymore. It's beautiful, yes, but the pressure there on the weekends is so high that I won't even THINK about going there and I live three miles away.

It's not even the pressure on the fish that makes it so bad, it's the other boaters. Between the 45 minute waits for people to gear on the boat ramp and the rental boats cutting you off/beating the bank shallow its just not worth it.

To answer your question directly, however, Frederick is beautiful, and really clear. It has massive fish, but they can see for ages so make sure you don't throw braid (they can see it) and use natural colors. They're extremely skittish, too. There is a single lane boat ramp and they offer boat rentals.

I understand the bluegill/crappie fishing to be considerably better than the bass fishing.

If you can fish on a weekday and it's close for you, check it out. Otherwise, spend your time somewhere closer to home. Nothing worse than driving an hour or more to get skunked, which a LOT of people do on Frederick. (For the record I've had two decent days on Frederick this year <Wednesdays> pitching jigs.)

All I know about Brittle is what the Wild Life website had to offer. I wanted to fish it but never got the chance. Looks like a good lake, they stock it with Walleye, LMB and Catfish from what I gather.

Curious to hear how it is from someone that has fished it myself.

yeh same here ill probably make the drive there in a week or 2 and make it a full day trip depending on when i am done moving into my new home

Brittle is tough...highly pressured. Shore fishing there stinks in my opinion, but boat rentals are available. Alder is a residential lake in Ashburn...Loudoun deputies and game wardens occasionally check for membership in the Ashburn Village HOA. They will probably step up the enforcement due to the high numbers of bucket fishermen hammering the Ashburn lakes.
