bugman Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 My dad and I are having a problem with some of our SK crankbaits falling apart at the seams. We both have had about 5 or 6 lures come apart. Mostly on Red Eye and series 5 cranks. It looks like they are seperating near a seam near the line tie. We don't store them any different than our other Crankbaits and have not had a problem with any other brand. We both really like SK baits but not sure we want to spend any more money on baits that don't last. Have any of you guys have any problems with SK cranks? I have thrown away my mistake lures but my dad has kept a few of his. I will take a pic and post asap. Quote
M-D Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I have had some problems recently with their jigs...in fact it has prompted me to start making my own. Quote
hatrix Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I have had a BUNCH of defective baits to the point that I thought I should e-mail them. I never even got a reply or as much as some kind of acknowledgement that they even read the e-mail or actually even care. It's unfortunate since they make some of my favorite baits but there QC has been very hit or miss for me. I just noticed your from the Cleveland area and so am I. Maybe they send there defective baits to our stores Quote
tholmes Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 No seam seperation problems, but I've broken the bills off of several 2.5 squarebills lately. Tom Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 19, 2012 Super User Posted June 19, 2012 Take them back to the retailer for exchange or contact Strike King Customer Service for replacement. Quote
BassinNY Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Contact Peggy Coletta @SK. I contacted her about crankbait issues as well. Not only did they replace the bad one, they sent an extra with decals and a catalog. Also don't throw the bad ones away as she will ask you to send them in. pcoletta@strikeking.com Quote

bugman Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 I'm self employeed and understand the importance of good customer service. It's refreshing to see that a company the size of SK also understands this. I will try to gather up any of the defective baits and send them to SK. Thank you! Gary D Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 20, 2012 Super User Posted June 20, 2012 I had a Red Eye shad take on water...........sent it in, got two back, A+ in my book. Better than Rapala's policy of sending it in for inspection, and will be replaced if they see fit...........and oh yeah, only if you have the original box/reciept, if not.............tough luck. Super User Sam Posted June 20, 2012 Super User Posted June 20, 2012 Mark, there are many guys on this Forum who want to get into the fishing industry. Would you mind sharing your story on how you entered the business and what the guys of today have to do to enter the industry? You can post in the General Fishing area so more of the young gun can read your story. And any other stories about others in the industry would be appreciated so ask your colleagues for their input, too. Thanks in advance. P.S. Thanks for your post regarding problems with SK baits. I have never encountered a problem but it is nice to know that SK stands behind their products. Quote
BassinNY Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 It's refreshing to see a company not run and hide when there's an issue. I give Mark alot of credit and respect for coming on here. As far as I'm concerned Peggy and Big O are top notch as well. Obviously SK (Mark/Peggy) & RT (Big O) are very passionate about the SK product and us as consumers. Mistakes and defects happen in all industries. It's how a company chooses to deal with them that seperates great companies from the average ones. Quote
Bigbarge50 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Like SK lures, never had an issue (other than everyone else catches bass on red eye shads and I do not) and it is good to know there is someone to go to if an issue arises. Quote
